We visited “Tumbes” — and it turned out to be more than just a dinner; it was a true culinary journey into the heart of Peruvian culture. The interior is modest yet tasteful, cozy and homey, with authentic national touches. Every detail reflects a sincere love for Peruvian heritage. The food deserves special praise. Authentic Peruvian cuisine, cooked with heart and deep respect for tradition. The ceviche was impeccable — fresh, perfectly balanced, and full of flavor. The arroz con mariscos was one of the best we’ve ever tried — rich, aromatic, with perfectly cooked rice and seafood. The tallarines a la huancaina Con Lomo Saltado were tender, juicy, and incredibly flavorful. The Chicha Morada was a delight — cooked to perfection, not overly sweet, with a pronounced and distinctive taste. The dessert, while well-made and traditional, was a bit too sweet for my personal taste — more for those who enjoy rich desserts. As a welcome treat, we were served fried plantains and large, crunchy Peruvian corn — a small detail that added warmth and authenticity to the experience. The entire meal felt crafted with love and intention. The portions were generous and satisfying — you don’t just leave full, you leave fulfilled. And the service — truly outstanding. The staff was incredibly attentive, kind, and eager to make our evening special. Everything was served promptly and with a smile. “Tumbes cocina peruana” is more than just a place to eat — it’s a place you want to come back to, again and again, to experience the soul of Peru. Every dish looked and tasted amazing clearly made both with skill & heart.
