Mac's Bar and Restaurant — Restaurant in Antigua

Jesus this place is expensive. Getting the Big Mac, trademark not in fringed, costs €10.50, which is 2 to 3 Euros more expensive than any other place in the surrounding area. And probably the whole town of Caleta de Fuste. But while prices are an important factor, to me, the more important question is it worth the extra cost. In short the answer is No. The longer answer is maybe... also no. This place is really busy, and it's hard to understand why. The only thing going for this place is the owner. He is such a friendly kind gentleman, and I wish him all the success. However generally the service, quality and prices are not great. Not the worst but certainly could do with some overhaul and reviewing. Wifey and Hubby decided to order breakfast. Wifey ordered the sausage muffin, which was difficult to alter and change. And when it came out it was wrong from what she initially ordered. Hubby wanted a Big Mac breakfast, and just asked for no tomatoes... but still got tomatoes anyway. Just seems that this place is unable to be very flexible with their orders. Not that it was a big deal but shows that their focus is on speed and efficiency rather than service. Again not a bad thing however it is when that is the sole focus it shows a lack of care. The other server was a little bit snappy and in too much of a rush. While I completely understood, because the place was packed and busy, he just needed to take a breath and relax a little. He was a little snappy to the table next to us when they just sat down. Telling them they shouldn't just sit at the table, but should wait to be seated. The whole confrontation seemed just a little argumentative, when a light-hearted touch would have done better. These people were on friendly terms with the boss so I don't know how that went. The food was ok, no real complaints, sadly just expensive for what we got. For example next door, the same large breakfast goes for just under eight euros. It feels like a conveyor belt system, the food comes out fast, but with no flexibility and no substitutions. Having heard of Mac's but never been in - I thought it was time to check it out - I usually try the roast Chicken on my first venture into any Restaurant - this I find is a good test - as in some places it has been done a day or so and then frozen - you can tell by the colour of the bones - they will be mostly black - but I was pleasantly surprised to hear and find out that the Chicken is done on a Rotisserie - and boy you can certainly taste the difference - next test - see if you can change an item on the menu - say - change peas for beans - it is only something small - but you will be surprised how many places won't let you - next - see if they will put the beans on the chips - again something small - and can I say that Mac's passed with flying colours - the food was lovely - the staff were very helpful and polite - and the price was excellent - will I be back - well I have - for the Sunday roast dinner - and again it was a lovely and pleasant dinner and very affordable - big Question - will I be back - see below Just before I left Caleta De Fuste - I thought that I would drop into Mac's Bar and Restaurant - just to double check - got in at around 6.45 - I sat and I sat waiting for a menu or for at least a drink - the place was about three quarters full - but no sign of food on any table? - at last around 7 o'clock a lady came over and asked what we wanted - and I asked for a menu - and was told that they stop serving food at 6.50 ?- so I said that we had been here after 7 mid week - but was told that we were not - I didn't want to get into an argument so left - alongside about 20 other people - will I be back - I don't know - I suppose if I am stuck before 6.50 - it's surprising the difference in staff within 7 days - and to the owner - Put up your serving time - and not your...

Called in Mac's 5 times after a hard day on the beach the flood was good for a pub There fish meals where really good nice light golden crispy batter But on are 5th visit we couldn't belive what went wrong the batter was heavey and soaked in fat/oil We did notice they where looking for a new chef so maybe why the fish had gone down hill as we see the new chef The Lasagne was just a bowl of melted cheese causes and the spag' bol was bland just spaghetti and a cheap mince meat no sauce just water in the bottom of the dish We got a takeaway chicken but was over cooked and dry The rest of the menu was OK Breakfast was really good We asked about Sunday roast and was told from 1pm till it ran out and can not reserve Tropical 2€ Breakfast really good as was the lunch menu And the servers very friendly not 'RUDE' as some reviewers have said See you all nxt...
