THIS IS BRANDED AS “TAPAS BAR & + (Jaleo)” It was a late-ish arrival on our part ( just after 10 pm) but plenty of people were sat outside - They told us that we couldn’t order any cocktails and that the kitchen was shutting in five minutes. We ordered three portions of garlic and chilli prawns as a tapas - I was completely shocked that we literally only got x3 prawns each - they were delicious but this is more like amuse Bouche size than a tapas and they charged us €6 a plate and it felt like a rip off. We order three portions of calamari is which again were delicious but the portions were small for the price. We had croquettes which were €1.50 each and were huge compared to other eateries we have tried - but they had a slightly weird texture and not the traditional tasting interior that I was expecting - they almost tasted like they had mixed potato in and the flavour wasn’t great. All of us left one of the croquettes each and as we ordered two each this felt very disappointing . The bread was hot and fresh and tasty and the chips were made from fresh potatoes which was a refreshing touch however the whole experience was disappointing as the price of it all came to €64 including one drink each. The services was rushed and although they had cocktails advertised they said they were no longer serving them which was also disappointing. There are much better tapas bars around San Eugenio (Tapas Bar Pata Negra) and El Caldero in La Caleta. This establishment is overpriced with small portions. Totally underwhelmed by our visit here. The server who ‘greeted’ us was indifferent towards us verging on rude for the duration of our visit. The food was average except the spicy chicken wings which were delicious. The meatballs could have come out of a tin they were so bland. Garlic prawns and the mussels were ok but nothing special. My wife asked the server for wine she never asked if we wanted white, red, a glass or bottle etc before turning away from us. The young guy who cleared the plates from our table was the complete opposite and couldn’t have been more friendly or polite. This restaurant is in a brilliant location on the edge of the church square and.a great place to people watch. It’s a shame the food or the service didn’t match the surroundings. It’s not often I don’t leave a tip but this was one of those occasions. I wouldn’t return or recommend this place as there are far better places within a very short walk of this restaurant.

We sat down to have a few drinks and to eat. The waiter who sat us down didn’t greet us in English or Spanish and we had to ask for menus to be brought to us after 5 minutes of waiting (it wasn’t busy). We ordered our food and drinks to then be told we couldn’t have the cocktails as they weren’t doing them. To start with the calamari was nice however the €6 for what seemed to be half a squid (paid €5 elsewhere and had a whole squid). The garlic prawns were €6 and there was only 3 prawns per portion🤔. The croquettes were cold in the middle and were disappointing. For the prices that are being charged I and the quantity and quality of food, I wouldn’t recommend, despite being fresh, the overall food experience was disappointing.

Came for tapas (which you would usually expect to be a set price for a quantity of plates), here you pay €4.50 per plate. We ordered 5 plates and Sangria. The sangria was €12 for 1l and full of ice. The plates arrived one at a time across 25 minutes instead of all together. The server even forgot one plate and only brought it when asked for it 20 mins later. For the food , DO NOT buy the Shrimps, as you will only receive 3! Enough to feed a baby .. The Canarian potatoes were okay.. just potatoes and some sauces.. The peppers were nice and had enough salt. The Spanish omelette had been bathed in grease and was too heavy.. afterwards leaving me sick all night from how greasy the food was overall. The Chorizo was also fine. Once we finished and paid the table was immediately cleared away before I even finished my Sangria. Overall the experience wasn’t good at all, we was looking for authentic Spanish food and this wasn’t the outcome we expected. A big tourist scam, left still hungry and had food poisoning,...
