Wanna know the secret of good tapas in Barcelona? Well, the secret is that... they’re hard to find! 😜 Seriously, it’s hard to find a place focused on tapas that only serves good food. And that makes sense: tapas should only be something served along with drinks, not the concept of a restaurant. I know a couple of places but they’re not in the city center. I also know a group of restaurants (Grupo La Flauta) that gathers several brands (Vinitus, La Flauta, Ciutat comtal,...) with a similar menu and an even quality: the kind of place that will never disappoint you. 👍 At least this is what I thought before I took my friends and family to try La Bodega Anxoita. First off, the place is really small and we had to wait outside to end up being seated on 2 small round tables for 5 people. Really uncomfortable. We ordered a set of the most typical tapas (bravas, pulpo a la gallega, calamari,...). TBH, everything was, at most random, really disappointing. 😔 We also ordered a cava sangria, one of the worst I’ve had... and where were the fruits? 🤷 Fortunately, we ordered one of my favorite desserts in the city, their French toast topped with Catalan cream, which is available in all the restaurants of the group I’ve tried. And that was good. 😋 The service was good too. 👍 That was not a cheap meal cause we spent about €25 for not much food and only 1 dessert to share. 🫤 I wanted to make sure my friends would have a good local experience but I feel I fell into a tourist trap. 😓

Read moreAnoixta Bodega has a cozy atmosphere, and our initial waiter was kind, but the person who took our order left us feeling uncomfortable. I do not speak Catalan but I speak a little Spanish and was doing my best to order and ask questions in Spanish. It was also clear, since the waiter eventually spoke to us in English, that he knew we spoke English as well. Even so, when I tried to ask a question about the menu, he refused and told us to “just hurry up and order already” without offering any explanation. We had only been seated for a few minutes, and I noticed other tables were not rushed in the same way. It felt dismissive rather than Spanish dining culture or simply fast-paced.
The food was mixed, with some dishes enjoyable and others overseasoned, but the interaction is what stayed with me. I left overthinking that I had done something wrong simply for asking a question, even though I was trying to be respectful and communicate. For our first night in Barcelona, it was a...
Read moreA truly wonderful place, with excellent food quality and a menu full of variety, where every dish impressed both in flavor and presentation. The atmosphere is warm and relaxed, and the staff are friendly, attentive, and very responsive. Service was impeccable – the dishes arrived quickly, yet never felt rushed, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable.
A big plus is that we didn’t need a reservation: both times we came, we were seated right away. The value for money is outstanding, making this spot a fantastic choice.
The foie gras was cooked to perfection, the octopus was incredibly tender and flavorful, and all the seafood used for the tapas was of excellent quality – the salmon in particular was absolutely delicious. Some of the creations are so well thought out and creative that they could easily stand alongside dishes from a Bib Gourmand restaurant.
We’ve already dined here twice and are planning to come back again tomorrow – which says it all about how much...
