Vapiano Gran Via — Restaurant in Barcelona

My recent visit to Vapiano was an infuriating experience, was abundantly clear that we were treated poorly solely why The incident that stands out the most is when one of the chefs in the pasta section, when I was wait for my turn then he start to take others Oder who after me when I ask he say go in the other line am busy when I go to Nicki, I start to give him my Oder in English rudely demanded that we speak Spanish to accept my order because we were in Spain, I told him I don’t speak Spanish he start laugh and say no spraining no food there other customs speak to him and he start to say what you want all the while raising his voice at us. This double standard became painfully obvious when moments earlier, another customer in front of us comfortably conversed in English, and Nicki had no issue responding in English.

This incident was not only deeply hurtful but also completely unjust. Every customer, irrespective from where deserves to be treated with dignity and fairness. Vapiano, you need to take immediate action to rectify this issue. i hope i can just rate it a zero because this is unacceptable and disgusting. Especially we went many times there and never experienced this at all you guys should know how to train your employees to treat people in good way because you guys aren’t paying the food to be rude to us . You made us feel unwelcome treated us unfairly of you employee niki used to be my favorite restaurant now the worst restaurant we complain to the supervisor and then we left the restaurant without having our food...

I dont understand how this place could ever have 4.4 in ratings. Food was way below average, we left after trying to eat in 15min-20min. Service from one of the chefs was insanely rude. And we were not only ones affected we later knew from their own staff who told us. It’s “self service” which says it self. Nice concept where you have to go up to the kichten staff so you shouldnt expect much which we didnt. We just wanted our kid to eat and we would get some delicious “fresh” pasta on the side. And mostly like every other human being, we want to be treated with respect. We kindly asked a chef or kicthen worker if our son could get plain pasta and then kecthup on the side. The guy just responded in a very rude and arrogant way to this question and clearly talked bad about us in spanish to his coworker. He clearly understood what we asked for but still want the other chef to come so we could ask him the same question. He was on the other hand respectful and said that it is not an option. Which is OK for us. Even though on their window they promote with kids menu etc. clearly the guy hates his job. Maybe we were unlucky with him, and his behaviour also was showed in the food, but we are for sure not coming back ever. I want to also add that Mahmoud who worked as a waiter and asked how everything was, handled it in a very professional way and he for sure knows how service and hospitality works in this business. A chef at vapiano thought it was a priority to take out the rubbish rather than monitor the prawns and chicken in our order. Both were burnt badly, which he did not notice. When I mentioned to him that the chicken and prawns were burnt, he did not do anything about the prawns but argued that the chicken was cooked properly when coated black from being burnt. He then went on to rush through our orders and not offer the full service such as chilli or garlic and slammed the food on the glass serving area. Very abrupt and rude and not what I expect from an established restaurant. I have eaten in many vapiano stores prior and have never seen such unprofessionalism. I will never eat here if he is cooking my food ever again. At the end, he was being shown what to do by one of the managers! Truly incompetent.

However, the manager of the branch, was nothing short of brilliant. He handled my complaint with utmost professionalism and made sure that I had been given a new plate with the additional trimmings such as garlic, chilli and cheese. Made the experience much more of what I expect from a vapiano.
