We came to this bar for a quick lunch before visiting Sagrada Familia nearby. The place was nothing fancy but the faded 1996 Barcelona FC poster was the best demonstration of its taste and vibe.
Much to our surprise, there were a couple of middle-to-old aged locals eating in the bar but there was no tourists except us although only 2 mins walk to one of the most famous place of interest in Barcelona.
The boss spoke decent English. There was no menu. Dish explanation and order were verbally communicated. And since it wasnât a weekend, there was less choices. Still, we didnât quite understand what to order. So we just asked the boss to order for us.
âMeat, seafood we all like. Just give us what the locals like.â And the boss happily obliged. He also suggested the homemade Vermouth, despite we didnât ask for drinks. And we were like âSure!â.
When the food came, it was one of the best dishes (not just tapas) we had in the journey. Itâs simple and sincere. Yes, sincere. There was nothing pretentious just every bit of a flavor that the neighbors enjoy. The meatballs were so good we ordered them again. And the vermouth upgraded the flavor to another level.
We were able to fully focus on the food and the nicely made vermouth. The whole vibe and experience were really amazing if you are looking for...
Read moreProbably the most unfriendly bar I have ever visited. You'll see from my reviews that I never give any bar or restaurant only 1 star. Here's my story - I enteted and ordered a vermouth and after an aggressive and hostile questioning from a miserable couple of xenophobes - I still don't know what I did to make them so hostile. Anyway, the angry couple misunderstood me and served me 2 drinks, I explained that I was alone and only wanted one drink - cue more hostile questioning from the angry shreks. I took my drink and ordered a second 30 minutes later, at this moment angry man ran out and very proudly gave me the drink they poured in error 30 minutes before. The older gentleman who probably owns the bar was very nice and friendly - what a shame that his children will end up selling this bar to a Chinese family y because they are too spoiled to serve people...
Read moreThe food was nice at a decent price. But I give a low score for the horrible attitude of the lady behind the counter. She was either having a really bad day and being nasty or she is a xenophobic or tourist intolerant. She made us feel stupid for asking questions such as the menu, prices or where it was ok to sit. Another server had to jump in to break the tension she was creating with her horrible demeanor. Don't waste your time here, Barcelona is a lovely city with a lot of great food and great people, you will not find the later in this bar, only hostile and...
