Brunch and Cake's impressive 4.7-star rating is purely due to its aesthetics—it truly nails that beautiful boho vibe. However, if you look past the decor and focus on the essentials of a quality brunch spot, it falls short, especially for solo diners.

The food earns a decent 3 stars. They offered an iced matcha latte (which is becoming common in Barcelona), and I ordered the avocado benni. The portion was massive—I think a full avocado was on it—but while it was acceptable, I'd definitely try a different dish next time.

The real issue was the service, which deserves only 1 star. My interaction started well with a pleasant server, but the moment my food arrived, I was completely ignored. A request I made was never fulfilled, and my empty plate sat pushed away for over ten minutes. The server was happy "gliding" between other tables, chatting with guests, and even removing dishes from tables around me, but she never made eye contact or attended to me. I finally had to walk up to the counter to ask for the bill.

When the server asked how everything was, I explicitly said it was "bad," which she chose to ignore, only offering a weak excuse about being distracted. I pointed out that if she had time to chat and play with other patrons' children, she had time to check on a solo guest. The final kicker: After a payment glitch (my fault), she reset the machine and audaciously prompted me for a tip, a screen that hadn't appeared on the first transaction.

Ultimately, this is a 2-star establishment coasting...

I’m in awe how this place has 4.8/5 stars. Probably one of the most mediocre breakfasts I’ve ever had.

My experience with this location started with the first phone call. I asked if there was a line and the woman on the phone was extremely unhelpful. She refused to clarify if there was a line or not. It’s as if they want to turn people away.

We walked in anyways and were seated immediately, which was a positive.

I ordered the bagel, next level avocado toast and an iced Spanish latte.

The bagel was extremely mediocre. They took forever to bring out the food, and yet somehow still managed to serve it at room temperature. I’ve had lots of egg/cheese bagels all over the world, this would probably be the worst one of them all. An egg and cheese bagel is usually always delicious no matter what, however this place managed to find a way to screw it up.

The iced Spanish latte- I don’t even know what to say about this one. I don’t know what it was supposed to be but it was terrible. Did not taste like coffee or a latte at all. One of the weirdest drinks I’ve ever had.

The next level avocado toast was great. Probably one of the better items the have.

If you’re looking for an Instagram worthy spot, this place is 10/10. The food looked way more appetizing than it actually was. The ambiance is great, very picturesque.

🥪 Here’s what we had: 🥑 Super Sandwich – vegan brioche with chipotle chick’n, guacamole, pico de gallo and edible wheat palm trees, served on a bed of arugula, strawberries and jalapeños. 🍥 Cinnamon Roll – soft, homemade roll with caramel and chocolate sauce, walnuts, vanilla ice cream and a rainbow chocolate slice. 🍰 Basque Cheesecake – creamy, golden and lightly caramelised on the edges. ☕ Caramel Iced Latte – sweet, smooth and super refreshing on a warm day.
