This restaurant was recommended to us by someone who lives in Barcelona as a good place to eat rice dishes like paella and it did not disappoint. We got two paellas to share between 6 people and could not finish them. The seafood one was quite good, but the meat (sausage and pulled porked) and artichoke paella was the best. We sat outside on the terrace and got a nice sea view. We had a late reservation (after 3pm) and no one rushed us. Between appetizers, drinks, rice and dessert and coffee we were there for about 2 hours. It was lovely. If I had to say something negative about this place, it would be that it was hard to find and when we reserved online they only gave us a street address. We were walking around in circles and Google kept saying we had arrived, but we were in front of a hospital on the walkway. It turns out that it is actually UNDER the walkway, right on the beach.

First of all Ca La Nuri sits on an exceptional location right on the Barcelona beach that only a handful of restaurants can enjoy. And it is not only the restaurant inside having gorgeous views over the seashore, but the all-year terrace sits actually on the sand! Then you have their excellent menu based on Mediterranean dishes, being rices -paellas- the most well known ones. Finally you have a fair enough service -we had to repeat some pending dishes too many times today-. Main drawback is price: far too expensive but in line with the tourist-oriented location. Actually, make sure you book well in advance, especially if you plan to seat in the terrace. Beware of hidden cost! We ordered a black paella and were shocked when the bill came that we were charged for 2 portions. We only wanted to share one! The waitress never told us and the person who came with the machine was very as a matter of fact about it. Did not check and was not apologetic at all. He just said it would have been communicated when we ordered. It was not. It also took forever to arrive. We would have tried 2 different types if we were told. He made it sound like it’s standard in Barcelona. If it is, at least tell us. €50 for a paella is very steep. It tasted ok but definitely not worth the prize. Location is quite touristy with people coming up to try sell you sun glasses during your meal. Plenty of much better places to go for paella.

If you're heading to Cala Nuri for the ocean view, enjoy it because that's the only thing worth your time. The seafood paella I had was an absolute culinary catastrophe. The shrimp tasted like it had been dead for days, not hours, leaving a putrid flavor that made me regret every bite. The clams and mussels were either so tiny they were laughable or completely closed—an insult to anyone expecting remotely fresh seafood. It's shocking that a restaurant this close to the water could serve such abysmally low-quality seafood. If you dare to eat here, be warned: the only thing worse than the seafood on your plate is the fact that you’re paying for it. You’ll leave with a ruined day, and quite possibly, a need to scrub your tastebuds clean.

The fideua' with mariscos were really bad. The taste was poor, absolutely not right, and the price for the food is absolutely a theft as the quality is zero (more than 20 euros each for something of the value of 1/2 euros). The dosis was also ridiculous compared to other fideuas, but in this case it is better this way as more would not make any difference (you are not gonna crave for more, we could not even finish ours). The waiters were nice but this is not enough to make up with the basics: if you sell Spanish typical food make sure you know how to cook it properly, might that be for a target audience of tourists or locals. If you want a simple beer on the beach then this place is ok, but before dinner time. Not recommended.

Service is really excellent. Attentive waiter that are really helpful in explaining size of meals and the expected waiting time. The food does not hold up to what is promised in the menu. Paella is mainly rice cooked in a chicken/fish sauce broth with a few meat/fish parts on top. There is no sauce because it's all soaked up by the rice. It's a bit greasy and fills you up but it lacks any vegetables. Disappointing. The cream Espuma was offered as Cremé Brulee - these are different worlds and makes you question the entire menu. Authenticity is unfortunately absent here. Location and ambiete are inviting. In the end it's too expensive for what you get.
