My friends and I arrived here at around 12:30 for lunch on a Friday, and there were plenty of tables available. I had guided us here on a recommendation and they were concerned about this being an overpriced tourist trap restaurant, but that was definitely not the case.
The menu is written on the wall(s) (yes plural: you may have to get up and move about to read all of them to know what to order), but it wasn’t too inconvenient. Service was pretty prompt, and we didn’t have to wait very long for our food.
I had a chicken burrito and a beef burrito. My friends had the chicken burrito, chicken quesadillas, and avocado toast. I rate the chicken burrito a 7/10; a good burrito overall, and a decent portion for normal appetites. My friend and I agreed that the sauce could use alot more kick to it, but Spain doesnt really seem to have an appreciation for hot foods, so no surprises there.
I rate the beef burrito an 8/10; same as above, but definitely more flavorful thanks to the (pulled) beef.
My friend rated his quesadillas an 8/10; these are the most generous portions of chicken Ive ever seen in quesadillas, and I actually grew up in Texas! Again, the sauce needs some serious hot spice improvements to “kick” the rating any higher.
The avocado toast was 6/10; the portion was huge, with so many ingredients you cant even see the bread underneath. I think this detracted from the overall texture, as my friend said it was too oily for him. Still, the generosity of portion is appreciated.
Overall this is restaurant brings a great value for money in a district where most others are serving low quality food for high quality prices. Definitely...
Read moreThis restaurant is a must visit when you decide on travelling to Barcelona. I went there for the first time with my boyfriend. We were very hungry and were looking for a nice place to eat near the port. We walked past the restaurant by chance and already the outside of the restaurant was very attracting due to its very creative boards where they wrote their menu by hand in many different colours. As a starter we ordered a small portion of nachos. What we recieved was in our opinion a huge portion with plenty of cheese, guacamole and chiptole sauce for only 8 Euros. A dream. The burritos and the quesadillas were honestly the best ones we have ever eaten in our entire life. The staff was more than friendly and the vibe was just a 10/10. The second time I went there was with a friend of mine. I told her of my great experience when I went to the Carabela Cafe the last time. So her expectations therefore were very high. And guess what, I didn‘t disappoint her in any way. On the contrary: She was absolutely in love with everything. The food, service, ambience, everything. It is so reasonably priced for the amount of food you recieve. Guys go to Carabela cafe you won‘t regret...
Read moreThis place used to be cool 2 years ago and it’s downgrading ever since. The quality is lower and lower from all points of view. The food is mediocre and it is quite dirty and messy around. It’s a true disappointment. It’s still a hot meeting point for Uk tourists only, nothing more.
5 December edit to respond to the review response below : I used to be a frequent customer and came often here. I recently visited the place every month in the past half of year and this is my opinion as a customer. I will never come back as last week’s disappointment was too big and the response to this review is proving that the owner doesn’t care about his own customers anyway. As i was saying, it was dirty around, people entering the place without masks and the food quality was not good. I am sorry but this is my opinion as customer and saying that it’s 100% false is lack of respect and not willingness to accept that people outside of UK have opinions and they can be constructive if you cared about quality and not profit. But if you want to only have UK customers, go ahead!...
