Instagrammable gimmicks, and not much else.
As a brunch place, I would hope for better service rather than just promoting live corgis as the reason to visit. Focusing on food service should be the goal, not selling hoodies and petting dogs. The service is very unwelcoming.
And I was so, so excited to come here. I've been talking about it for weeks to my friends, and they all wanted to hear all about it. I had even planned to buy a hoodie.
Unfortunately, this place cannot handle being full. They need serious work on staff training and floor management. There was an air of anxious, stressed out chaos. Very disorganized and unfriendly.
We arrived at around 2pm on a weekend. Not a single employee even greeted us as we stood there looking to see any free tables. One employee looked directly at me, and yelled to his colleagues about coffee instead and ignored me. The others all saw me, and turned away too. I guess they hope if they just ignore customers, they'll leave?
The place was packed. It was chaotic. The only available table was piled with dirty dishes. There were dirty cups, mugs, utensils, and plates all over the place, even on the serving/bar counter. It gave a very unhygienic and disorganized feeling.
There was the one corgi there. But everything was so messy and loud that it felt very unrelaxing and unwelcome to approach the dog who was basically at a guest's table right in the only walkway everyone needed to use.
The music was too loud. People were crammed into tables meant for less people. It would be a nightmare for anybody with any sensory issues. It is not the atmosphere I want at a tiny, independent brunch café. It should be cosy. This was the total opposite.
The decor is not even that great. Sure, it's corgi themed, sort of. But you can't really enjoy it as the layout is long and very narrow and packed full of people, even in January.
So, after standing around for a while and being totally ignored by everyone, and being crowded by other guests also waiting to be greeted and served too, who were also ignored and confused, we had to leave.
PS. Nobody wants to drink a hot coffee while sitting on a swing. I get it's a cool aesthetic instagrammable thing, but please be practical. That section could provide 2 more seats, and it would be a nice place to sit as it looks out window.
I wish this spot had felt even a little bit welcoming. But it did not. I was so totally disappointed by the experience. I can't say I would waste my time coming all the way here when any other brunch café in Barcelona likely does the same food, but more friendly and organised....
Read moreThe CUTEST cafe! Took my nephews here as they adore dogs. It’s small and very busy! Took us two times for walk in same day, before they could seat us inside. Avoid brunch and lunch time (11:30-1:30) because it’s super busy; unless you have time to wait. You order from the QR code on your phone. We ordered coffee and requested the corgi booty design for the foam and my nephews loved it! They did not want to leave! There was Juice and another male Corgi. You can pet them and take pictures. There are rules of what to do and not to do with the dogs. I’m glad it was posted because my nephews thought they could feed them, and you cannot.
We also ordered an iced coconut latte with coconut milk and strawberry lemonades- all amazing! I ordered a smoked salmon on the croissant and it was great! The salmon was thicker than I had expected! We also ordered the cheesecake (which my nephew said was the best he’d ever had), the açaí bowl and the Corgimisu! All were great tastes and...
Read moreI noticed the name “Corgi Cafe” when I was searching for restaurants to eat around the hotel I’m staying at. Upon realizing it’s not just the name and a corgi is present, I had to visit. The cafe is a very cute and cozy shop with adorable corgi-themed art, wooden cubes with the wifi and menu QR code, small bits of Corgi Cafe merch sitting around, staff rocking pastel coloured Corgi Cafe shirts and the lovely star of the cafe, Juice the Corgi!
I ordered the Chicken Milanese with a small coffee with milk. The Milanese was crispy, with a really delicious homemade tartar sauce to complement it. It had an herby taste, which made the fried dish feel light.
We came right as it opened so Juice was sleeping and groggy, but she did perk up and greet a fellow doggie friend when they came in. You can buy treats and dog food to feed her!
Going to see Juice was the main reason, the good food is...
