Dear Sir or Madam,
It is absolutely outrageous to me when I come to the restaurant with a reservation and am told by the “chef” that you are closed, while he is putting one pizza after another in the oven—presumably intended for take-away or delivery orders. When I asked if I had understood correctly that the restaurant was indeed closed, the chef replied only with “No english” and mumbled something under his breath.
My companion and I decided to go to another Italian restaurant. We chose your establishment solely based on the positive reviews, and it is absolutely incomprehensible to me where these good reviews come from. I assume that, since it was raining and there were hardly any guests, it was decided to keep the restaurant closed and only handle deliveries. This is utterly baffling to me, given that according to your operating hours you were open and I had even made a reservation.
I have never encountered such unprofessionalism, and I have been around quite a bit. The “employee” seemed just annoyed with us—apparently for merely being there with a reservation—and his attitude conveyed that clearly. Furthermore, he went to the back and spoke about us with someone else, showing absolutely no willingness to help us.
This is not my first negative experience in Barcelona; I am here for the second time, and I cannot understand the demotivation and negative attitude towards tourists. After all, this city thrives on us, the tourists, and should be grateful when you have visitors. I have rarely experienced such a lack of hospitality; everyone seems to grimace, and one would be tempted to shake them off immediately—just as in your establishment. I have seldom encountered such incompetence.
Even if the food might be good, I would never visit your restaurant again, nor would I recommend it to anyone.

Edit 20 Jan.2023 It was the last time we ate there and we will never again order for take away either. We went around 19.30h there was a huge queue waiting close to the bar. Assuming it was to be seated we also joined the wait. The people infront of us left at some point as no one spoke to them. Same happened with us but I was persistent and finally asked the waiter if they had tables available. He responded that they only had outdoor seats. We rejected and paid for pizzas and dessert to go. Then the rude waiter insisted we wait outside the restaurant- in the cold. So waiting long time indoor to just speak to him was not a problem but after taking our order and money he wanted to treat us as dogs. I refused to leave and found a corner where wasn't busy to wait with my child. My husband went outside. There was some space close to the bar where we could have been offered to pass the time and have drinks while waiting the order, or simply we could have been offered temporary some of the two available tables to sit until the people with bookings came..nothing. After a very very long wait I saw a number of boxes matching our order waiting at the bar, finally the waiter went, saw it was ours. Closed again the boxes and went to deliver plates in the restaurant. Why we as paying customers and being there, and standing for between 30-40 minutes were treated with lesser kindness and respect than those seated?!? We were never greeted and never told buy or thanks for coming. Nothing.
The kitchen staff on the other hand as usual delivered excellent quality, not just the pizzas but also the tiramisu!
It was such a disappointment and killed all the wonderful experiences we've had with Grosso Napoletano for the past...
Read moreOn July 24th, 2025 I went to order a prosciutto and funghi pizza and I asked for it well done because I read past reviews that the pizza was a bit raw and soggy. I also asked if they could substitute the prosciutto for another vegetable. The waiter was new and he said that it was fine, he changed it for cherry tomatos instead and didn't charge me any additional fee. The pizza was not cut (which I expected it to be) and very thin and a bit soggy, however it tasted good and the ingredients were good quality. I returned on Sunday, July 27th, 2025 around 21hs, I asked if I could have the same pizza again, well there was another waiter that day which told me it was not possible. So I asked to speak with the manager, Mr. Reda. He said that it was the policy of the company to charge extra for substitutes. I explained that I ordered the pizza the other day and that they were able to do it. He said that the waiter didn't know about this policy. Unfortunately the manager was not able to comply with my request. So I went to their competition next door Bocca di Bonifacio and spent my 30 euros on a pizza over there. Please help your manager to be somehow flexible because this will cause many customers to go elsewhere. Not only Grosso Napoletano pizzeria lost a customer, they got a bad review from me, I will not order from that place anymore (future purchases) and I will not recommend this place. So sad to see a business not give their customer the...
