Jon Cake & Wines — Restaurant in Barcelona

I’m a huge fan of Jon cheesecake! It was exciting to see they opened a new location so of course I had to check it out.

First, the positives: the queue is shorter than the original location, and the cheesecakes are just as scrumptious as ever.

Amazing selection of Jerez wines including from small and special wineries like Bodegas Tradición. And it is nice to be able to sit down and enjoy these incredible cheesecakes with wine.

Then why only 2 stars?

1 star off for the tea selection. They only have teabags!!! Yup, the best cheesecakes in Barcelona, served with sad, low quality broken grade, tasteless teas in bags. For such amazing cheesecakes, this is such a shame and a huge oversight. How about upping your game and offer us at least some loose leaf artisan teas that are a match for your artisan cheesecake?

1 star off for the service. We were left loitering, waiting outside for almost half an hour and none of the waitresses ‘saw’ us. Until I got fed up and walked right up to the counter and learnt that they actually did have a free table. Also, for all the amazing wines they have on offer there’s no pairing suggestions.

1 star off for the ‘matcha deception’ in their matcha cheesecake. The only place where you will find ‘matcha’ in Jon’s matcha cheesecake is in its name. No matcha taste! Really they could have used spinach and I would have not noticed the difference.

In short, they are in the right direction but there’s definitely room for improvement. Until then, I’ll continue to buy cheesecake to go because really I have better tea and friendlier...

Os cuento mi experiencia. Ayer jueves realizo el pedido a través de la web de Jon Cake. Recibo en mi teléfono movil un pin para realizar el pedido. Cumplimento datos facilitando mi nombre "Jandri", mi numero de tlf. móvil, mi dirección de mail, pongo en observaciones que me dejen un folleto para enseñarles la compra a mis amigos, indico que la recogida es en tienda. (vido a 2 calles) y pago con tarjeta. Fácil y sencillo. Pues cuando voy a recoger el pedido, el dependiente me pide el nombre, le indico que me llamo Jandri, busca en todas las bolsas y no le aparezco. Me pregunta si puede ser que haya dejado otra indicación, y le indico que me llamo Alejandro. Busca entre las bolsas y no le aparezco. Le traspasa la gestión a una compañera, que sale con su tablet en la mano, y me pide numero de pedido. Le indico que no he recibido ni un triste mensaje de que la compra se ha efectuado, ni ningún mail de confirmación con el numero de pedido. Le comento que el cargo en mi tarjeta está realizado y se lo enseño. Me pide teléfono móvil para la búsqueda y en su tablet no aparezco. Me comenta si la recogida era en esa tienda y le indico que si. Anota en un papel mi teléfono y se va una zona interior a consultarlo. De mientras entro en la web de Jon Cake, me pide que verifique que mi numero es correcto con un código pin que recibo como mensaje, pongo mi numero de teléfono y. aparece a la primera el pedido que había realizado. La empleada sale con su tablet y nada. Le indico que me consta el pedido realizado y pagado y lo vuelve a buscar entre las 8 bolsas de cartón que tenía. Y, increíble!! ahí estaba mi tarta de queso. Dentro de la bolsa, había otro paquete más pequeño que enseguida han sacado indicando que era un error... Les pago la porción de tarta que mas a mas había comprado y le indico a la empleada que no he ENTENDIDO NADA DE LO QUE HA PASADO. Cumplimento un cuestionario donde pongo mi nombre, mi mail, mi teléfono y no sois capaces de enviar un triste mensaje de que el pedido se ha efectuado. La empleada solo sabía indicarme que debía de traer el número de pedido, y cuando le intento razonar me interrumpe. En fin... que si compras en su web anota el p.... número de pedido!!! porque el mio no ha quedado registrado en ningún sitio y aparte de que no saben leer un nombre en un ticket y te hacen pasar un ridiculo innecesario en mitad de la tienda.

El ambiente del local parecía majo. Vivo cerca, pero no creo que vuelva por la experiencia que he tenido.

El servicio, lo siento mucho pero deja mucho que desear. Todo me ha parecido raro y confuso. Que le estes hablando a una persona y que te ponga gestos de lo que le estoy contando le da igual, es de poca atención y mala educación.

La comida, de momento no la he probado para valorarla. Entiendo que estará de notable alto....

The cheesecake was excellent. They need to improve their service though.

We went to this cake shop during a Sunday afternoon and the lady at the counter wasn’t friendly at all. When we asked which flavors they had, she simply responded (without even looking at us) “the ones up there” and added “are you ready to order because I have to bring more cakes from the kitchen”. In fact, she rushed us to order as fast as possible without explaining a little bit more about the flavors (even though we asked).

I’m sorry, but when you pay 33€ p/kg for a cheesecake (no matter how premium it is), staff should be more patient and provide more detail to customers if needed. In my opinion, the whole dining experience is what matters and not just the food. Hope they can improve this part.
