La Base by Farré — Restaurant in Barcelona

Just a random restaurant on the beach. Not the best service I agree with the rest.. it took ages to give me a table even though it was pretty empty when I arrived but they were keen on placing me at the smallest table possible next to a pillar. Had trouble ordering as they acted like they had no time to listen to my questions and kept telling me that the menu couldn’t be changed instead of helping/offering me a recommendation. I wanted a simple thing - a salad and/or veg option next to the prawns I wanted and there was no simple salad on the menu.. they said I have to choose from the bigger salads which had meat .. turns out it was possible, the other waitress (the only one who spoke english in the whole restaurant) helped in the end. I ordered grilled prawns (with some salad), padron peppers and chips. Average at best. I had to ask for a slice of lemon, as they came with no taste whatsoever, except.. fishy. The chips came with pre packed mayo and ketchup, not the best.. the peppers were good, you can’t go that wrong with them anyway..

I ended up here because I was really hungry and to lazy to walk around in the heat. Overall too expensive for what it was .. and there are better...

Worst service I've had anywhere. The staff were not busy, much of the time they were stood around talking but seem to deliberately ignore us. Each time I managed to catch a waitresses attention I was immediately asked if I wanted to pay rather than if I wanted to order. It felt like they were trying to get rid of us. Service was very slow and came with no manners. If you don't like tourists, don't work in the tourist industry. When I finally did want to pay, I waited 10 minutes being ignored by the staff. I eventually went to the counter to pay there but was shouted at by one of the waitresses who aggressively pointed me away from the counter. She eventually came over with my bill and didn't return with my change. After another 10 minutes I went to ask where it was. I was given more attitude and after another 10 minutes, finally got my change. Needless to say I wasn't prepared to leave a tip. Terrible, rude, slow service. I dread to think what it would be like if the place was busy! Pretentious and...

Beautiful terrace and great location to watch the sea and beach. However we waited a long time for someone to serve us (20 minutes); actually we had to call for the waitress to pay us attention despite them walking past numerous times. When we finally got to order they didn’t have the food we wanted to order and the waitress moved us to the other side of the restaurant where we had to wait a following 10 minutes to finally be served. She was not very welcoming, when we finally got our drinks, she slammed them on the table, spilling my coffee and walked away. - it seems if you’re a big group spending lots of money you get better service as opposed to just being two people, they don’t want you there.

In the end we resorted to going to one of the male waiters to serve us as he was a lot nicer and welcoming.

It’s a shame, I had high hopes for this place but the service was really bad and...
