Lovely location, friendly staff, wide selection of wines, avoid the food offerings. We sat there after a long, long day, to enjoy a glass of wine or two. The location is lovely, right in the middle of a small square next to the beautiful church of Santa Maria del Mar. The place has 4 or 5 small table outside, a few stands on the wall, where people can enjoy a glass of wine standing up, leaning on the wall, and a few seats inside as well. The selection of wine and cava was very good, and one has a satisfying amount of options even on a budget. However, avoid the food offerings. We ordered a plate with a selection of 3 local cheeses, that literally had 3 tiny slices of manchega cheese, goat cheese and some sort of brie-like cheese. For 8 euro! And we dare say it was on the horrible side, as we were lucky enough to have tasted excellent manchega and goat cheese the previous days, and they came nowhere near. We also got a plate of sobrassada sausage, which was below average. I'd sit there again, but I'd only stick to...
Read moreVinya del Señor is a really unique wine bar that allows you to taste lots of interesting wines by the glass. The menu glass menu changes every 15 days and regularly features some very premium wines as well as older vintages. They also have visiting sommelier nights where the visiting sommelier puts out a unique selection of wines by the glass to try. Last week Mohamed Benabdallah’s list included two Montrachets and a Cote-Rotie. All delicious. I’m currently taking wine courses and it’s been great getting to try lots of iconic wines by the glass when doing so by the bottle would cost a fortune. The wines aren’t cheap but when you consider the price of the bottles, the value is still fair and no one else is serving a selection by the glass like this in Barcelona. You can also request quality stemware like Riedel Veritas glasses that cost over 25 euros a piece. For the experienced wine lover looking for unique pours this is an essential wine bar...
Read moreI've been coming here for years. A mandatory stop when in Barcelona. But today you lost me. I ordered the Tavel rose and right off the bat I could tell it wasn't right, cloudy, watery on the palette. I pointed this out to my server. Now bear in mind, these guys promote themselves as knowledgeable wine pros. No, sir, YOU don't understand, is what I'm getting. It's a natural wine. It changes in the bottle. Etc, ....OK, next glass. Please open a fresh bottle I'll have the same. Now it's clear, it's bold. It's what Tavel is! Please note, I've been to Tavel twice. I toured the cellars, vineyards. I know for a fact Tavel is not producing any "natural" wines...Excuse me, miss. The first glass was off. Oh but sir I can't do anything about it. You drank it. Blah, blah, blah....to the managers credit, after a debate, he took it off the bill. Unfortunately you've turned into a Overpriced tourist joint....que lastima....don't talk to people like...
