I’ve been in eu for five years, and first time ever to see a PRE-TAX PRICE on the menu. I only realized that after i saw the check, and they claimed that they put a “hand-written” warning on the menu about the 10% extra tax lol, which is very unnoticeable. almost felt like being in the states to see those extra tax :)

It’s not about the extra money that i had to pay, but it’s more about the bad feeling that i got ripped off, especially for the fact that it was my last meal in spain

The seafood tapas is wayyyyyy tooooo small in size, like smaller than my hand, and i’m a 5’ 2” girl. it’s ridiculous given its price - 8. we ordered two, and both were like that.

The service was bad. We ordered fried small squid, and they gave us grilled squid. We ordered one drink, and the server brought two.

Food was just average touristic place lv. Not worth time and money

Oh, I almost forgot to add, but their home made salad rarely has any dressing except a slight hint of olive oil :)

We were too tired to complain, but this was the worst meal we had during our...

I really wanted a seafood paella, so went to this restaurant, which sounded good. However, our experience was not so good. People kept coming in and getting their food and ours was nowhere in sight. I asked the waiter what was happening with our order who immediately got aggressive and surly with me. He tried to say that it took a while to make yet I could plainly see others getting a shared paella starter. Literally, one hour 20 minutes later I got my paella. My husband was only having a salad and fries. They gave him his and my paella came as he was finishing!! The lady server came and apologised and brought a plate of fries and offered free coffee!! Fortunately, the paella was superb but I think the chef must have gone out to catch my seafood as it took him so long to make it. The aggressive waiter never apologised and was a real jerk! The table near the doorway actually did a runner during their second course. What comes around, goes around!! Food great, but the service, especially the tall balding waiter...

Don't let the appearance of this restaurant (menu with pictures, signboard with fluorescent light and old, pale pictures) fool you! For years, this is my go-to place for the best paella in Barcelona (seafood paella, with shells). Yum... It's also very well priced (12 eur/pp) and they have a great sangria (11eur/L) to pair it with. The only downside is the relatively long waiting time for the paella, so be sure to order one or two tapas as you wait.

Another thing to be careful for: they charge you a 10% service fee on the ticket, even when you're not sitting on the terrace. Last time, I raised an eyebrow over this as I actually don't think restaurants are allowed to do this (and it was not indicated on the menu either)... The owner was very eager to drop it while explaining to me in Spanish that customers can "choose" to pay the 10% service fee or not... Hmm, weird to say the least. ;)

But nevertheless: THE BEST PAELLA for the best price! Go here and you'll definitely come...

BAR RODRIGO, BARCELONA 🥘 Perfect place if you are looking for wonderful but not overpriced Paella in the centre of Barcelona. We started dinner with some seafood tapas, took shrimps, baby squids and clams. Everything was delicious and tasted fresh. Especially we liked squids which were made in delicious homemade tomato sauce. After tapas, we got Paella Mixta, with seafood and chicken. Dish was prepared with traditional pan so rice in a corners was perfectly crispy, seafood and chicken fresh and full of taste, all combination was delightful! Highly recommend, as it was the best Paella what we ate. This place has local vibe, very friendly personnel and high quality but affordable food. This dinner with jug of Sangria cost us 63€ and we left full and satisfied! More restaurants reviews on Instagram: chew_slowly

We took a long stroll from Ciutat Bella to La Ribera on a sunny afternoon and ended up at the Basilica of Santa Maria del Mar. We decided to stop for some drinks at Bar Rodrigo, which was right on the corner. It had good reviews, so we thought we’d give it a shot. The menu had a ton of options, from different kinds of paellas to pizzas and tapas. We went for the Paella Marisco and Paella Valenciana, and both were super tasty. Pairing them with some cerveza made it even better. The place had a cozy and clean vibe, and the service was really great. The staff was friendly and made sure we had everything we needed, plus they spoke English! Overall, it was an awesome experience and definitely a solid spot to check out as a tourist.
