I have been a regular customer in this restaurant and have been recommending it to my friends and family. But just when it is the very special night for all of us a NEW YEAR’S EVE got me very disappointed.
I personally went to the establishment to reserve a table as early as possible, so that we can enjoy the place, the celebration and new year’s evening with my friends and partner.
A little back story. Right there and then last December 9 2024 I reserved the table we would like to seated, which is one of the option for the people when reservation is done for special occasion. I made sure that on that day i am fully paid just to have that certain table because I wanted all of us to enjoy.
But it comes to my surprise when we arrived December 31, 2024 our seat was taken by other people and the management told us that they have reserved it first done us. So, in stead of giving us a heads up by contacting us before that night they waited for that day to inform us and in return offer us that we will be able to enjoy unlimited drinks in exchange of us seating nearly next to the kitchen. And we felt so embarrassed because we are trying to talk to them to get our table back and all the people are looking at us. Which really ruined my night. They could have done something about it for they’ve had 3 weeks to inform me about it and I could have cancelled my reservation and looked for another option/restaurant to celebrate our New Year’s eve!
It was our first New Year’s Eve outside and wanted it to be special but instead they ruined it for all of us for sitting us near the kitchen (and embarrassed us)without prior notice.
We didn’t have any choice that night for it was already late, we were starving and for sure every restaurant that night is fully booked already. So we settled for what they’ve given us. But very disappointed with the service knowing i paid a decent amount just to...
Read moreI visited Mar i Terra Arenas with my husband on our first night visiting Barcelona. We booked via The Fork which had a special offer, and it was also close to our hotel, so it was perfect. It’s on the top level of the Arenas complex, so they also had great views of the surrounding area.
The restaurant is beautifully decorated and really stylish. They have a lovely covered outdoor terrace for when the sun is shining, as well as a modern indoor restaurant.
The food was varied, and offered tapas, as well as a huge range of seafood dishes and steaks. It took a while to decide what to order as it all sounded so good. We ordered a variety of tapas dishes to start, so we could sample the Spanish flavours - and they did not disappoint. For main course we both ordered the local cod dish, which featured lots of garlic and a fabulous piece of well-cooked fish.
For dessert we had a Basque cheesecake, and it was incredibly light and fluffy - a real treat!
The service was attentive, and the food was quick to come out when it was ready, so everything was very fresh. Overall we had a wonderful evening at Mar i Terra Arenas and I would highly recommend a visit for some great...
Read moreVery disappointing experience at Mar i Terra Arénas (Barcelona). Extremely long waiting times, poor and overpriced food, tiny portions. Burgers claimed “gourmet” but ingredients were thrown together carelessly. Dessert menu basically non-existent: only cheesecake, badly undercooked crema catalana, or coffee. Our cheesecake order took 20–35 min and we got an undercooked chocolate cake instead. Drinks menu misleading: Fritz Kola 0 was swapped for regular (the one we asked and bought… how did they even mess that up?), high caffeine served to a teenager without warning. The restaurant was almost empty at 12–12:30, so there was absolutely no excuse for such terrible service. Hard to believe all positive reviews. Avoid this place AT ALL COSTS.
