Matcha Crew — Restaurant in Barcelona

Had a wonderful experience at Matcha Crew. I've been drinking matcha for a few years now and when people tell me they don't like matcha I tell them they may not have had a 'proper matcha'. At Matcha Crew, I got a proper matcha. They offer a few different qualities of matcha and two 'strengths' (by weight) of matcha and measure it by scale to ensure you are getting the amount requested. They have oat milk. They also have hojicha latte which I enjoy. I bought a pouch of match and a pouch of hojicha and had a long discussion with Charlie about types of matcha and storage methods, etc. She even made a special matcha drink with hojicha for me to taste. This is the best service (and most fun) I have ever had in a matcha shop so I am sorry for the other reviewers who did not get the 5 star experience that I had. Yes, it is more expensive than many other matcha shops in BCN but it is in the heart of the tourist area (I am sure their rent is $$) so what do you expect? I really love this place! I consistently have come back to get matcha from here as the quality is high and delicious. I have tried a few different flavours from them. I will say that their fruit flavours have a very milky taste (strawberry and mango), which I personally like less - this is totally down to personal preference - than a strong fruit flavour but still super good. They released an earl grey matcha for Sant Jordi, which was DELICIOUS!! I wish it was a permanent item in their menu. I would also recommend their non milk matcha options. I tried one with yuzu which was refreshing and tasty.

I would agree with other comments that I think there is no need to charge extra for different milk options now.

I went with a friend a week ago and the truth is that the intense flavor of the matcha, even mixing it with milk and fruit, pleasantly surprised us.

We love to go matcha hunting around Barcelona and previously we had gone to two other places that sold matcha, and the truth is that when you ordered it with milk and some fruit, the matcha flavor disappeared.

I ordered the "Milky Mango Matcha" and was surprised to see that it was real fresh cut mango, not jam like other places usually do. My friend ordered the one with tapioca pearls. She said that the boba was really soft, not at all hard and with a super nice flavour.

I ended up giving it 4 stars because the price indeed is quite a drawback (the ones we took were 6.50€/each). Still, it's a good place to go from time to time to try some good matcha. You can also buy their matcha powder, hojicha, and even a chawan...
