Poor quality meat dished up with a hot platter not up to the job.
Eight of us out looking for a meal at the Bull ring Arena's Barcelona. Had gone to Tapa Tapa the day earlier and really enjoyed it there with a great drink of Bitburger lager, but they were unfortunately were full and couldn't get a table so decided to go next door to Pura Brasa, my son fancied the half-metre of barbecued ribs. My other son wanted to try the large steak for two people so we decided to share this meal. It came our on a hot platter not big enough for the job. The steak was very poor with aprox a third of it being fat, stringy sinews accompanied with a tee- bone with no meat. We tried to cook the meat but it was still all raw before the platter went cold. So I complained to the waiter after us both having tried to eat raw meat with the blood running through and soaking our ridiculously thin fries, but he thought this was all acceptable. Saying in Spain this is the meat we serve up including the useless tee-bone with no meat on it to fill your plate. I even put my hand on the hot platter and left it there to show how the platter had gone cold before it had cooked the meat, to no avail. We also had no vegetables to speak of except a few pieces of red pepper and onion.
We decided to give up on the steak and instead go for a couple of burgers which was a bit better but still silly thin fries. My other son said half metre of ribs are they joking? That was only big enough for one person. Very poor indeed, and still charged for our steak, in fact all the party of eight were very disappointed..poor food and poor service. We took a photo of the steak as...
Read moreIf you're a tourist, stay away from this place if you don't want to get robbed! I went there last evening. The food was unimpresive. The portions were small and overall worse than many other cheeper restaurants. When we were about to leave I saw that may bag was gone with all my papers and money. The staff did nothing to help and what looked even more suspicious was that the waiter just couldn't stop laughing. They didn't showed me a way to a police station (even if, one was only a couple of meters away) and, when requested, they offered me a wrong emergency number. Another curios thing that initially looked like a simple act of rudness was bringing the check without being asked. It was probably to ensure that someone will pay the check before noticing that something was wrong. I'm sure I won't ever get back my papers and it's quite unpleasent to have your identity card stollen in a foreign country. At the police station, I was told that's not uncommon to be robbed in this place so, If you're a tourist searching for a restaurant just...
Read moreThe staff was friendly and the restaurant is very nice. We got a lot of food. Ended up getting the Secreto ibérico pork loin (which was great but wasn’t my first choice….more later) and my wife got the Seabass….as well as a couple vegetable dishes to share (all grilled to perfection) The price for the seabass was great. Portions were great. Good tasted incredible. We finished our plates even though we ordered way too much!!
My only complaint, is the menu is a bit deceiving. I would’ve like to try a couple different meats and at a quick glance the menu stated that Wagyu beef is served in increments of 100g / 18,50€. So I thought great, I can get like 200g and something else also. But then it says that there is a minimum of 400g. So you can’t try the Wagyu beef without spending at least 75€. So just put 75€ (18,50 each additional 100g) on the menu then. Why try to hide the actual price?
But overall, the food was great and will definitely return. (Wish I could’ve tried that Wagyu...
