EDIT; In response to the owner’s reply, we want to clarify that if they had been more upfront about the costs (ie, that sharing would be extra) we would not have been in this situation. It is standard to expect to pay for the amount that you advertise, nothing more or less. However, being dishonest and disrespectful to customers is not the way to try to cover your own expenses.

We were not particularly hungry so we decided to make a quick stop for a sandwich and their menu of the day which sounded like a good deal for 12 euros (starter, entree, drink and dessert). However, we were met with a surprising amount of attitude when we mentioned that we only wanted to order 1 big sandwich and a menu set to share between the 3 of us. We were even told that we were not allowed to have our water bottle out, as they did not want us drinking our own water. During the meal, the waitress kept shooting us mocking looks from across the counter, which is not the way guests should be treated. The food itself was nothing spectacular but it was definitely filling.
After we finished, the waitress charged us for TWO menus of the day and the sandwich, and was adamant that because we had shared the single set it counted as two—even though it was one person’s portion (including one glass of wine and one piece of bread). After a lot of back and forth, where they brought in another guest to help translate for us, they honored our original order of one menu of the day and one sandwich. After we paid, the waitress all but tossed our dessert at us (which was pre-made and unopened). It is shameful how they treated us and tried to charge us double the price for a single meal. Turns out 12 euros really was too good to be true...
Read moreBeen twice so far and will go back a few more times during my stay. The staff is very friendly, the food is great and the prices are cheap (Under 8€ for grande sandwich and drink)! Definitely try the salsa picante; it’s different (rich, smoky, perfectly spicy) than American hot sauces.
My only suggestion would maybe to add a couple fried eggs to some of their sandwiches. (Jamón, salchichas de país, chorizo, o bacon) con Huevos y Queso would be very good very good American/Tex-mex style breakfast sandwich. Maybe a couple mm thick slice of potato boiled till soft and browned on the grill. They don’t need to change...
Read moreA must for everyone who likes spanish bocadillos! We‘ve been here three times during our vacation. The people there are very very nice and even though my Spanish is bad they were very attentive and even taught us some Spanish. I felt very welcome. The bocadillos are cheap for the size, super delicious and freshly made right in front of you. Definitely our favourite place to eat in Barcelona because of the food AND the people there :)))) So what are you waiting for? Go to Sanz and see...
