If you are a fan of the TV show Benidorm then Mateos is a must to do when in Benidorm.
I visited twice on my holiday, because I’m such a geek and in the hope of meeting and shaking hands with the wonderful Derren Litten.
Sadly I missed him by a couple of days but I was not disappointed because I was greeted and welcomed by two members of staff Allister & Bar manager Steve. They were both so friendly and such a good laugh and even managed to tolerate my ADHD constant rambling and funny stories of what happened to me on my holiday to which I asked if they could pass on to Derren 😎 Thank you guys for being so amazing!
So about Mateos (in style of les/leslie’s voice) It’s situated in a nice quiet street up of the strip, it’s clean inside and out. Staff are all very friendly and welcoming. You can take as many pictures as you like and there is plenty of memorabilia on the walls to look at. I was fascinated by seeing the TV awards and all the photos of cast. My favourite by far was the signed picture to Derren of the great late John Challis. You will catch clips of the show on TV screens in the bar which is awesome and music videos in between. Drinks are a great price too. You can purchase memorabilia Birthday Cards, Signed autographs, colouring books, hats etc I could have spent hours in here but I did not want to annoy people with my picture taking and constant yapping.
So in final comments; Amazing bar friendly staff, chilled atmosphere just an absolute joy to visit.
I’d love it if there was karaoke on in here as during my time in Benidorm I didn’t find one decent karaoke bar.
I hope to come again one day 😎 Cheers for...
Read moreWe went in to Mateo’s Bar on Friday 11th March 2022 in the afternoon, firstly we asked the lovely lady if our two year old could go in, no problem at all.
My wife had the Blow and Go but because I was driving I had a no alcoholic beer.
The place is full of memorabilia and props from Benidorm, we only discovered the TV series last year after putting it off since day one. We missed out on a lot.
The bar is apparently owned by Derren from the TV series, apparently he is a regular in the bar and we missed him a couple of days ago, it was a shame and we did go the next day to see if we could see him.
He has made a great job of the place, with many of the customers also being fans of the show. Video clips of the programme are shown as well as some clips we’ve never seen before.
Drinks are reasonable priced and as already mentioned the lady behind the bar was amazing, she gave our little boy a lollipop.
For fans of the show, I’d really recommend a visit. If it wasn’t for his TV series, we wouldn’t have even stepped foot in Benidorm. It was nice to visit the local area and see so many of the places from the tv series.
Hoping Derren does the stage show again so we can watch it! Thanks for...
Read moreAmazing bar ! I've been a huge Benidorm fan since it first started, so when Derren opened this place I couldn't wait to visit. This fantastic bar is crammed with Benidorm show memorabilia, including Mel's famous leopard print thong, photographs, scripts, even clips of the show being played on screens. The cocktails are highly recommended, I've sampled a few and they certainly met my expectations, the Blow & Go was definitely my favourite. Derren, creator and writer of the TV show is an amazing host, he really gives his all to make customers feel welcome, I love him dearly. We have been lucky enough to meet Jake Canuso (Mateo) a couple of times and he is super friendly and will give his time to talk to...
