Worst Granier we have visited in Spain, tried to order at counter as was going to order cake and wanted to point out which one, as we have in every other Granier or bakery in Spain, normally acceptable but asked if staying in and told to sit down inside but wanted to sit out, which we did. A brusque unfriendly girl came to take order but didn't understand cheesecake fruta, she offered strawberry but wanted blueberry so my partner had to get up, go inside and point out which one - which was what we wanted to do at the start. When it came, it had large blob of cream - even though I ordered soya coffee and some unmentionable looking white stuff covering it and the plate. The cheesecake itself was very dry and so maybe trying to hide it. My coffee was served with sweetner on the side, maybe a hint for me to lose weight? I went to use the toilet and there was no paper in either the ladies or gents, I wanted to ask for some but was put off by the giggling the girls did as I walked past, luckily I had some tissue in my pocket. There was urine all over the seat which I couldn't wipe because there was no paper, the toilets must not have been checked for a while, unacceptable as there were enough staff. We gave always left a tip in Spain, not here. My tip would be gave a better friendlier attitude. Actually, we gave your tip to the homeless...
Read moreI was at this Granier franchise shop less than an hour ago, and had such an awful experience that I need to vent about it. I asked a woman behind the counter about their empanadas, but she was serving a table om the terrace outside and asked me to wait, which was perfectly fine.
I waited long enough to be ready to leave when she finally returned, but instead of answering my question, she started to charge the customer behind me on the line (was she ignoring me because I am Asian and obviously a "guiri"?) who was paying her tab from the terrace.
If that was not enough, she started chatting with the customer while I waited! I then asked them to hurry up because I could not wait any longer, and they ignored me (again, Asian? "Guiri"?). All this happening in Spanish (I am fluent enough to teach at universities in Seville and Granada, in Spanish).
At the end of this awful experience, I told her (in Spanglish again) that queues are a universal concept honored by most civilized societies. She pretended not to understand, so I repeated in English. Still pretending not to understand, so I said in Portuguese. Still...
Read moreStaff not welcoming at all. We didn't speak Spanish but we tried our best with the few words we knew, despite that every request was met with an eye roll. The pastries in the display have no signs indicating their filling, when we asked and wanted to order the waitress insisted we had to sit at the table and order, which made it impossible for us as we didn't know the names of the pastries displayed at the counter. When we asked if we could order at the counter so that we could point at what we wanted, to make it easier for them as well, we were again told we could only order while seated at our table. I understand there's a language barrier, but it felt like there was zero effort to accommodate us or try and assist us. Not a single smile, felt like I was an uninvited guest in someone's house. On top of that, the pastries we ordered were very dry and tasteless and one of us didn't get what we ordered, but by then we didn't dare to "disturb" the staff to try and get them to...
