Is the location good? Without a doubt, it’s great. Otherwise, the service offered is cold, uncouth, disorganized and absolutely without any empathy. We made a reservation for 3 days, 3 beds in shared rooms. We were aware that the c-in would be until 23h, and at 18h, when we had a problem on the road, we made contact by email and by phone informing that we would not be able to arrive before 00h30. The email was never answered, however, the person who spoke to us by phone, wrote down our names and said that everything would be okay. We arrived at the hostel stairway at 00:48 (after all we had to find a parking lot to leave the car), and to our surprise, we were rudely prevented from entering. The clerk who barred us said he knew we would arrive at 12:30, but 12:48 we could no longer enter because people were already asleep and we could only come back to do the c-in the other day at 3 pm. We tried to argue, but completely in vain. He did not let us in and so we spent the night on the street, with another guest who had come 5 minutes before us and was in the same situation. We stayed the 4 on the street. The next day, we did the c-in after 3pm, according to the receptionist’s guidance, although we paid the 3 reservations equally. The beds are high and without side protection, the lockers are outside the berth and of minimum size, the bathroom is tiny and without structure of hooks, benches and shelves. To improve, in the middle of the European summer, the room’s air conditioning is 25 degrees. When we asked to lower, the receptionist said we had to adapt because it could not get cold for other people and put the temperature at 24 degrees. at 3 am, I was awakened by the receptionist in my bunk, because I could not be on the floor of the room (The freshest and safest place, and without disturbing anyone I met). He entered the room to try to lower the air temperature at the request of another guest since this room was very hot. I went to the "lounge" where there are common use sofas and was approached once again by the receptionist who said that no guest could stay there after 1am. That if I did not want to go to my bed in my room, I could go to the street, but that there I would not stay. I went back to the room, waited for dawn and when my companions woke up, we did the che-out, without questioning anything in relation to the payment, but there would not be more. In the booking portal of Hostelworld, the reservation appears as CANCELED, so we could not even evaluate the "stay", however, of course, the payment was made in full. We always travel around Europe in Hostels, and have never been treated with such a lack of empathy, hospitality and kindness. Are hostel structural problems opportunities for improvement? Undoubtedly, but the disregard with which receptionists seem to be oriented to deal with customers is completely absurd. Not to...
Read moreTerrible scammy business and cockroaches. They advertise online that they accept credit card on arrival, but when I got there they said they only accent bank transfer or cash. I only book places that accept credit card because my credit card hasn’t worked at ATMs for the 2 months I’ve been traveling.
I had some emergency cash in British £ so I told the receptionist I had to go exchange. I walked for 40 minutes to the nearest exchange, but my mistake, I had left my passport in the locker at the hostel and they wouldn’t let me exchange money without it. I didn’t have time to make it back to the hostel and then back to the exchange before it closed.
I came back to the hostel and told the receptionist that I would try to do the bank transfer. Unfortunately, I use a federal credit Union that doesn’t allow international transfers.
I explained the situation to her and told her I could go get cash as soon as possible in the morning. She told me I had to leave.
I’ve been staying in hostels for 10 years and in those 10 years I’ve had a small handful of issues with my bank cards. Hostels have always been more than understanding. A solution can always be found. In this case, this hostel should hold itself accountable for advertising something they don’t offer. I asked for the €10 deposit back that I paid online and she told me I had to contact hostel world. I contacted them and reported.
I told the receptionist I found somewhere else to stay and she asked why I didn’t find someone to exchange money with. So now I’m responsible for knocking on all of the hostel doors to ask people for money? Absolutely not. I’d already wasted 3 hours of my day trying to sort the money and my new accommodation.
Cherry on top, when I was trying to sort my bank out, I saw a massive roach crawl into someone’s food container in the kitchen. Good...
Read moreI can’t say enough good things about this hostel! From the moment I arrived, I felt so welcome and at home. The staff went above and beyond – always friendly, helpful, and full of great local recommendations. You can really tell they care about their guests and the atmosphere they’ve created.
The rooms were spotless, cozy, and thoughtfully designed – everything was clean and comfortable, and I slept like a dream. The common areas had such a warm and inviting vibe, perfect for meeting fellow travelers or just relaxing with a book or a coffee. And speaking of coffee – the little touches like free tea and coffee made such a difference!
Location-wise, it couldn’t have been better. Everything I wanted to see was within walking distance, and the neighborhood felt safe and lively.
Honestly, this hostel exceeded all my expectations. It’s rare to find a place that feels this personal and well-cared for. I’ll absolutely be coming back, and I’d recommend it to anyone without hesitation. Thank you for such a...
