A Charmer in Center of Cadiz
Was a bit nervous about booking here, as I couldn't find many reviews online. But then I trusted my gut as something about the pictures and descriptions conveyed a charming boutique vibe. And boy oh boy, I am glad we booked here! It was a dream of a stay. Everything from check in to check out came with a touch of indulgence and personalized hospitality. Every bit of the eproperty is so tastefully decorated, and with so much individuality, this charmer breathes fresh meaning and life into the concept of BOUTIQUE Hotels that so many other self-proclaimed boutiques fail to accomplish in most cases! Infact, this place should upgrade its status itself as more of a LUXURY BOUTIQUE as it provides all elements of a luxury hotel - from the class of cosmetics to the style and opulence of the fittings and decor
LOCATION: Excellent location in the old town and walkable from all key points of interest
DINE + DRINK: Dont have a restaurant or bar on site yet, but they are apparently working on it.
ROOM: We stayed in 41, so this review is based on that; The room itself was so wonderfully and tastefully decorated and clearly showed that someone had done this up with love and not with a business mind! VIEW: the room was a hidden gem! IT came with two leveled terraces both of which came loaded with a spectacular view of the old city. Great place to lounge and chill in the evening or catch the sunset with a drink.; SIZE: Compact but spacious enough; AIR-CON: Perfectly functioning cooler that helped in setting the perfect room temperature; BED: Comfortable bed that played the expected part to put me to sleep; BATHROOM: Stand in shower; TOILETRIES: Wonderful Cosmetics that was so luxurious and felt and smelt like spa quality. Something you dont typically get in a boutique hotel at this price range!
FACILITIES: No gym or pool on site
SERVICE: Friendly staff that took care of all our needs with a smile and made us feel pampered and well taken care of. Special Shout out to the Owner Mr. CARLOS GOMEZ personally welcomed us with delight and made it one of the best welcome experiences ever!!. Also thanks to Felix for helping with a smooth check in process.
HOW WIRED YOU WILL BE: Free high-speed Wi-Fi that works well all over the property. Big Plasma TV screen dishing out dozens of channels spanning sports, news, music, movies and a wide variety of entertainment in...
Read moreAvoid this place. We made a reservation on August 30th for the following day. Unfortunately, my partner got the reservation date wrong, and when we arrived, we had to book another room. They offered us a token discount of €10. An hour later, we changed our minds because the hotel was poorly maintained, the bathroom was dirty, and we suspected bedbugs. We requested a refund for the second night, just an hour after paying, but the management refused. As a result, we ended up losing over €300.
Here is my response:
I made a reservation on Friday, August 30th, at 11:45 PM. Indeed, I made a mistake with the date because it was obvious to me that if I was booking so late, it was for the following night. But still, it was my error.
We didn’t say anything about that; YOU DIDN’T OFFER US A DISCOUNT, BUT WE ASKED FOR ONE, AND NOT 20%, BUT €10 (the room was €190 per night, we paid €180, NOT €152 IF 20% HAD BEEN APPLIED). ON TOP OF NOT BEING CUSTOMER-ORIENTED, YOU’RE A LIAR.
The new room your hostess offered us was room no. 1: very dark and honestly not as welcoming or as nice as in your photos. Whatever, we washed our hands (only using soap and a towel, we didn’t touch anything else as we stayed in the room for a maximum of 5 minutes) and then went out to explore Cádiz.
We didn’t like the city and wanted to leave. So, we kindly asked to be refunded the €180 we had paid just an hour earlier. Your hostess refused until we asked her to contact the manager, who also refused to refund us, stating it was “not the hotel’s policy,” even though we had mistakenly paid €150 the day before and then paid another €180 for that same night. Do you find that customer-friendly?
For your information, we went to the Dominican Republic two years ago to a hotel. It was our first time there, so we didn’t know the country at all. We asked to be refunded for five nights because we wanted to go to the capital, and the hotel agreed to refund us those five nights. It’s just a matter of empathy and basic decency.
I think it’s important that the internet and your future clients know that this hotel is run by the kind of person who lies, manipulates, and has no problem scamming others.
This is what happens when you don’t want...
Read moreOur room at Casa Canovas was fairly comfortable. The room's windows opened into a lightwell, so the room was a bit dark, even during the day. We enjoyed the huge bathroom! The bed was a little bit too hard, and the pillows a little too soft, but we slept pretty well. We very much appreciated that the hotel continues to leave air conditioning available, since it can get warm in Spain in early November when we were there.||The hotel staff was a highlight for us. They are superb! Always a smile and a nice greeting when coming back to the hotel after the day's adventures. We were in Spain during the time of the Valencia floods, and Fernando called ahead to the hotel we were staying at next to see if there were any problems. We really appreciated that - it was above and beyond. They also helped us with restaurant recommendations and reservations. ||Although this is a hotel review, I want to add a strong recommendation for the hotel's Italian restaurant. It is excellent - especially the cannelloni. Some of the best Italian cuisine I've had anywhere. If you're interested, be sure to make a reservation. It was full both of the nights we were in Cadiz, and we were lucky to get in at...
