Tired looking rooms and hellishly noisy if your room overlooks the atrium.|The hotel is listed as a 4. |We travel a lot and this hotel is most definitely not 4 worthy. Not even close. |3* at best and possibly gets this rating because it has a pool and spa facilities (which we did not use). |Ok it’s an older style hotel, you could say ‘quaint’ but in reality the rooms are tired looking with fixtures and fittings that appear decades old. |If you’re from the UK think 1st generation Travelodge - that’s what the room decor reminded us of. As a positive, it’s spotlessly clean. |We had booked a ‘Junior Suite’ as the price difference wasn’t that much more but what a mistake that turned out to be. |The ‘suite’ part consisted of a chair, uncomfortable sofa and two basic coffee tables (see photo). It resembled a Doctor’s waiting room. It was so bland and basic. |The one window in this part overlooked an atrium roof - the bottom of said roof had a stagnant water gulley right outside the window attracting midgies and mozzies into the room if you left it open which we needed to as the air-con wasn’t effective/working and temperatures were mid-20°s.|The bedroom was a good size although the mattress lumpy and its window faced and opened onto (another) internal atrium area which is where Reception, meeting points and breakfast, lunch etc all take place. With a high atrium roof the noise was incredible and reverberated making a night’s sleep difficult, |The staff who set breakfast plates and cutlery in the early hours are not quiet about it either. It will wake you, even with the window closed. |The tv has no English Channel that we could see but we don’t tend to watch tv on holiday so not an issue for us but might be for others especially as there are a large proportion of English speaking guests staying here. |There was a slight difference in floor level between bedroom and ‘suite’ area. This has been badly repaired (see photo). Why on earth they haven’t fixed this properly with an angled laminate floor transitioning strip is anyone’s guess. |There were some young trainees on Reception a lot of the time. Great to see a hotel doing this but they weren’t able to do much without a senior colleague being available. When checking in we had to wait ages because of this and, for some odd reason, the girl who did eventually check us in had no access to bookings made via Expedia (go figure). My confirmation showed 4 nights and they had us in for 3. This was resolved later although we only discovered it was resolved by returning to Reception a couple of days later and asking. We were told they ‘phoned our room but we weren’t there’. So how about leaving a note under the room door or calling/emailing my mobile? They had all these. Shout out to Vicky on Reception as she’s the only one who seemed to have a genuine smile. |Staff uniforms look as tired and ill-fitting as the room decor though. |The bar - awful. Limited choices, poor ambience. 4*? I really don’t think so. |The hotel is well positioned which likely guarantees them business and will continue to do so. When we checked out we weren’t asked about our stay, Perhaps they don’t want feedback at the time. |We loved Cadiz but personally wouldn’t choose to stay at this...
Read moreI was looking forwards to coming here but I am sorry to say the hotel is a little bit disappointing.
The “spa” in the hotel name is only open Wednesday - Sunday and it costs 20 euros each visit, not included in the hotel. The rooftop pool - I imagined might have a bar, some soft music, a bit of an atmosphere maybe but it feels very abandoned and municipal, like a closed-down public pool, it’s more of a cold plunge pool, the sun loungers are separated from the pool on a different deck and it is actually quite windy up there, a guest’s umbrella blew off the roof !
My room is a bit dark with only one small window which has no view - so it is very claustrophobic, it feels a bit like being at a motorway services hotel. As somebody who enjoys reading and writing the hotel room lacks romance and character - other creative people will understand what I mean by this. In England this kind of room would be a Premier In or Travelodge. However with the right combination of lamps and by rearranging the furniture a bit I made it nicer.
The gymnasium is just 5 machines from the 1980s, with no free weights or exercise mats. This could be easily improved with a few purchases. To access the gym you need to ask a receptionist to come and let you inside each time - but the receptionist is often busy working alone and so I spend a lot of time today waiting at reception. A hotel of this size needs 2 people on reception at all times, if not 3. I feel sorry for the staff who are doing their best. And the gym could be fitted with a door code maybe?
The staff are very friendly and the hotel is not bad - but I feel like with a bit of energy and work this place could be so much better, if I came back to Cadiz I would not choose this one again - sorry. It feels like a closed shopping centre and I have already made a reservation to use the spa at a different hotel - which is not a...
Read moreI warn against this hotel. The hotel's offer is misleading - this is especially true of the parking lot. Private parking offered by the hotel and cited as an advantage is in fact its great disadvantage. The hotel does not mention anywhere - not even in direct communication - about the restrictions that apply to parking. This supposedly private parking lot is located in an area where car traffic is restricted by a no-entry ban and is accessible only by a small freight elevator, the location and size of which make it impossible for any standard-sized car to enter. The moment I learned of these restrictions, which prevented us from taking advantage of our pre-booked offer, the hotel decided that it was not responsible and charged me for the night we could not use. I was traveling in Andalusia with my parents, who had mobility problems, and I could not reach the hotel because its offer is just plain fraudulent. Earlier, out of concern for the proper conduct of the next leg of our trip, I contacted the hotel and confirmed my parking reservation. No one in the correspondence informed me that I had to travel in a car no larger than a Smart, and that I had to break the prohibition on entering the narrow street to maneuver between people and store displays. I cancelled this accommodation, contacted the hotel 24 hours earlier than my scheduled arrival, and yet the hotel still decided that I had to pay for a stay that did not take place. I warn anyone who will want to use this place: the offer is misleading, the manager is unfriendly, and communication is a sham. If the hotel lies about parking it probably lies about everything else as well. I will never make a...
