We returned to this restaurant nearly 6 years after first going. The first time being a really pleasant experience so we were looking forward to it. Unfortunately this time, not so much. We were seated inside as it was very busy outside, which was absolutely fine. However, we were completely forgotten about and the service was awful. We asked if we could move outside once something became available which they said yes to, but nothing was mentioned after that or acknowledged. We were brought bread and olives and my husband asked the waiter for some aioli, to which the waiter said yes to getting for us, but he didn’t return with it. He would come back and clear things away for us but didn’t even talk or acknowledge us. I ordered the half burger half lobster and asked a different waiter for the burger to be really well done and not pink and explained it was because I was pregnant. He seemed very accommodating of this. Yet the burger arrived pink. Not only this, but the bun somehow had some left over raw mince meat on it where they had cut it in half. My husband had finished his meal by the time I got my replacement burger. It took forever to get anyone’s attention or to order drinks. And anyone we ordered things with would say yes then carry on doing other things. Loads of waiters walking around but none of them seemed to be serving - just clearing away or only doing specific things. We half expected to get some sort of small discount on the bill as a sorry for the burger situation but that didn’t happen - not even an apology. Not to mention the half litre bottle of water was €5.50 which arrived in a dirty glass bottle with no lid - so it was probably just filled up with tap water and not bottled. It was our last night in portals nous and it was my birthday meal so we came away feeling really disappointed. Won’t return next time we visit. They need to learn how to cope better with...
Read moreI’m not someone who usually leaves reviews, but I felt I had to after this experience.
I ordered the half burger and lobster. When the dish arrived, the lobster was slimy and clearly undercooked. I did eat a small amount before realising, which I now genuinely regret — especially as I’m now worried I could get sick for the rest of my holiday.
Mistakes happen in kitchens, and I would’ve been understanding if the staff had handled it properly — but they didn’t apologise once. When I mentioned the issue, they were rude, dismissive, and completely lacking in any empathy.
By the time the replacement dish finally came, my partner had already finished her meal, so the whole experience was a letdown. To top it off, the manager’s idea of a resolution was to offer a free coffee, which honestly just added insult.
This review isn’t about the food error — it’s about how they dealt with it. Poor service, poor attitude, and zero responsibility taken. Would...
Read moreWellies’ is a mediocre establishment aspiring to serve excellence — yet without understanding what excellence truly means. Its problem is not the location, but the lack of substance and soul behind the setting. It is like a Starbucks serving more than coffee, the the masses and to the average, wit pretentiousness but nothing is really convincing..
Surrounded by - material - wealth, they seem to confuse affluence with refinement and quality. But true excellence demands genuine timely and personal service, taste, wit, and a sense of place — qualities that cannot be bought or imitated.
Service should be elegant, discreet, and timely; food should speak of its origin and intention. Instead, Wellies drifts in a sea of mediocrity, echoing the same predictable trends - like yet another average Starbucks, rather than listening to the ground beneath it — to the real Mallorca and all it has to offer. The only thing we really thought was nice...
