Walking around Girona the last few days, there’s a plethora of places to eat from even in the relatively quiet season in February. Depressingly, there are many of which are ok without being memorable;ranging from cheap eats to more up market persuasions but Casa Flora completely bucks this trend. If you want to go to a restaurant which has food that is beautifully cooked and presented whilst being served by a lovely and welcoming staff then please visit. It’s open for lunch Tuesday to Saturday and Friday/Saturday evenings. Due to our holiday we weren’t able to have the very reasonably priced 3 course lunch menu so visited on a Friday evening. It was the best meal of our break by a long shot whilst still being of very good value. We shared a starter of smoked duck, quails egg salad in a sesame oil dressing. Hubby then had steak, home made foie gras in a red wine sauce. I had fresh pasta stuffed with mushroom and red pesto enhanced by local red wine by the glass or bottle. The pasta was the best I’ve ever had. Normally stuffed after a couple of courses , the food was so good we managed a pudding of cheesecake for hubby and deep fried chiro with pistachio ice cream for me. The atmosphere in the restaurant was happy, relaxed with a mixture of locals and tourists. Added bonus is a few tables overlook the river too.
Shame it was our last evening in Girona as it wouldn’t have been our last...
Read moreThis charming, Husband and Wife operated cafe is located in The Old Town. We happened upon it after deciding against the many underwhelming tourist-focused restaurants nearby. We were wonderfully surprised by the choices the menu of the day offered and entered hoping to be seated, which we quickly were with a clear view into the tiny and efficient open kitchen. My mouth watered seeing the delicious dishes being created. We chose our first and second courses and added a bottle of wine to the order. The food presented is like works of art and was extremely fresh and delicious! They change the menu often to accommodate whatever is in season, fresh and locally accesible. The service was extremely good and the restaurant cozy and comfortable. . I will definitely come back on my next visit to Girona. The restaurant is open for afternoon lunch during the week and for lunch and dinner over the weekend. I would highly recommend making reservations as we were quite fortunate to have...
Read moreIf you’re going to Barcelona, Girona is a must-go excursion for this restaurant alone! From the view, the family that owns it, to the food - to say that everything about this restaurant is incredible is an understatement. The chef deserves a Michelin star.
My husband and I visited Casa Flora last year following a recommendation from our tour guide Gaspar & I’m so grateful he recommended it. This restaurant was one of the highlights of our honeymoon. The restaurant is run by a family who are so kind. The food was absolutely delicious. My husband and I still talk about how good the chicken dish was - probably the best chicken we’ve ever had in our life. It was so well seasoned, every bite was an explosion of flavor. Every dish is just as beautiful as it is delicious.
For dessert, try the xiuxos!! (pronounced...
