Xibarri — Restaurant in Girona

The wait staff is not capable of handling the volume of customers. We had three wait staff attending to our table. One was slow, one was forgetful and one waitress was downright RUDE. Service was very disorganized as others, party of four, who arrived 10 minutes later (native Spanish speakers) were served well ahead of us two. Our three course meal was disappointing and we would not consider returning after being insulted by one of the waitresses. She needs a refresher training in customer service. Especially before high tourist season kicks in. For over $17 a person there are much better options in the city. It has been repeated numerous times in this restaurant’s reviews about the horrible and rude wait staff, long waits for service and delivery and mediocre food. We should have heeded the warnings but as we went on the recommendation of a local we wanted to give it a try. Sadly, the management is not interested in addressing these issues as they continue in the reviews. Also noted is that there have been no comments by management apologizing for said issues that customers have faced in the past 4 years. Don’t be fooled by the full tables as you walk by looking for a good all around restaurant experience....

Sub par food and over priced. Slow service. After my first drink I could not get anyone’s attention so I finally went to the counter to ask the waitress if I could order another drink (girl with blonde ish/brown hair and pony tail). She rolled her eyes at me and totally ignored me. I understand that maybe she doesn’t understand English and I wish I spoke Spanish but to roll your eyes and ignore someone is just pathetic. Then another waiter comes over and asks what I need. I ask him to order a glass of wine (still politely). He says ok. I wait probably another 20 minutes at the table as I watch as they bring multiple other people who ordered after me their drinks. Finally I go up and ask for the bill and the same waiter who took my order doesn’t care to acknowledge I never received my drink. Really bad service, bad food and over priced. Restaurante en plena plaza de la independencia, muy céntrico. La zona interior del restaurante tiene vistas al río. Carta no muy variada pero platos con buena pinta. Hemos ido un día festivo y entiendo que estaba abarrotado. Pero el servicio ha sido bastante caótico. El restaurante no admite reservas. Llegamos a las 14h y nos dicen que está todo lleno y que hay que hacer cola y que por orden de llegada van asignando mesas. Éramos los primeros en esa cola de espera. Si que es cierto que éramos un grupo grande (5 adultos y 3 niños), pero no es normal que estábamos allí de pie esperando y a medida que iban quedándose mesas libres.. en vez de juntar varias mesas de 4 y de 2 que se iban quedando libres... no! Van sentando a las parejitas y grupos de 3-4 que estaban esperando también detrás nuestro. Según ellos, mover las mesas de zona era imposible, tenían que librarse dos mesas grandes contiguas para poder juntarlas y ocupar el espacio de las dos, pero poner una mesa en una esquina ¡¡imposible!! no había espacio. Si desde un principio nos dicen esto, que en nuestro caso solo nos sentarán cuando se liberen dos mesas grandes, nos hubiéramos marchado (de ahí nuestras quejas... íbamos con tres niños, dos de ellos bebés). Total, para finalmente, después de casi una hora después, una vez libradas dos mesas grandes contiguas... Dividen una de las dos mesas y solo cogen una y la ponen en un extremo... ¡¡¡¡Lo que llevábamos media hora pidiéndoles y que supuestamente por espacio no sé podía!!!! Un despropósito. La comida bueno... No estaba mal, pero nada exquisito. La tostada de sobrasada con brie, huevo y miel estaba excesivamente salada, creo que se les ha olvidado la miel porque yo no la he apreciado. De precio bien, eso sí, para estar en un lugar tan céntrico bastante razonables los precios. Por cierto, solo tienen una trona en todo el restaurante, deberían tener más. Solo puede haber un bebé afortunado de todos los asistentes parece ser...
