Had the chefs special Alcachofas/ Artichokes. This is because I had seen so many fresh artichokes at markets when I was walking around town. So thought they were in season? The sauce it came with was super sweet, like a honey and sugar. Awful. Ok but thought at least maybe the artichokes would be sharp in flavour and salty to counteract… NOPE. Vinagre! Not fresh at all? Sorry if this is the Spanish way it is supposed to be served but not for my taste. So disappointed because as you walk in there is a chef grilling food to order. But this seemed like a jar of artichokes grilled. I was willing to overlook the fact that when I asked to be seated at a table against the balcony (waiting until all the tables were free) I was told no because I am one person and the tables are for four. Even though only two other tables with diners who were also not seated on the edge. The waiter on the terraza was polite enough but due to the food this place gets a a really bad review. Perhaps other food is good but sorry definitely not the artichokes. €15.90 for the artichokes, a glass of white wine, a bread roll...
Read moreEleven out of ten for this fabulous restaurant which we hit upon by chance on our way up to the Alhambra (tickets sold out when we got there though).
As soon as you walk in, the grey parrot, Coco in his spotlessly-clean cage greets you.
We were politely and smilingly shown up to the terrace. The panoramic view was truly wonderful, surpassed only by the mouth-watering taste of the food.
My husband had the grilled goat's cheese for starters followed by grilled swordfish - both items superbly cooked in a spotlessly-clean environment. I had the chicken and beef croquets followed by chicken on the tallest hanging skewer you could imagine. The presentation of the food and the quality of the service was as good as you would receive at the poshest of hotels.
We even thought of booking a short break to Granada merely to revisit this wonderful spot.
You must visit because you will not be disappointed.

Read moreBalcón de Granada is located in a great viewpoint over the whole city of Granada. Reaching the restaurant is a bit hard since you have to drive there and there’s not so many parking slots in the surrounding but.. it’s worth it! Service is very kind and helpful and food is very good quality. We ordered Puchero and Mushroom croquettes and Grilled Camembert cheese with honey for starters as well as Ibérico secret filet with dates and tuna filet for main dishes. Everything was delicious! We were surprised when we got to pay, really good prices! I highly recommend you Balcón de Granada, no matter if you’re a local or a traveller passing by this...
