Beautiful restaurant and tasty food. I must have come on an off night. Loooong wait for food to come, as other tables around me ended up cancelling orders and left. Another table near us got up and left because all their meat came undercooked inside. We ordered the chicken skewers and had to send it back twice because it was raw inside. The second time our chicken came out, our beef tagine still hadn’t come (over an hour after placing our order). We asked for it to be cancelled, but it still came much later. Good thing, because we had to send the 2nd order of chicken back for also still being raw inside. The third time our chicken came we’d already been in the restaurant for almost 2 hours and my toddler was losing it, so of course we couldn’t enjoy our food in peace and just had to leave without completing our meal. The waitress was apologetic, and we kept being told that the chicken dish was complementary. In the end, after 10+ mins of waiting for the bill, we were charged for our chicken dish and I just needed to get out of there. 2 hours for the slowwwwwest service and undercooked meat. The prices were great and food was tasty, but overall did not have a good experience here. Really wanted to like it because it was halal and literally across from our hotel. Were really looking forward to a great meal after a long day in the heat at the Alhambra Palace, and to celebrate my husband’s birthday a day early at a fancy place since we’re traveling all day tomorrow. Very disappointed. In the end it doesn’t matter how tasty the food, gorgeous the ambiance, or great your pricing is - if service is subpar. We are traveling the entire day tomorrow, and pray that we don’t get sick, having tried so many pieces of chicken that were...
Read moreFantastic. As someone who is usually more of a fan of high-end innovative international fusion cuisine, I was SO pleasantly surprised by having my best dining experience in Granada be at this traditional Moroccan restaurant. From the first moment you enter Palacio Andaluz, you can tell that the whole experience will be infused with careful and loving attention. The temperature, design, music & volume (SO many places get this wrong) instantly give away a sensitivity to detail which is truly rare and precious. We were showed to our table by the kindest, most attentive young man, who then served us with humility, warmth - and also gave us a wide berth to enjoy our time without unnecessary interruption (again, so uncommon). Our eyes and ears were already feasting on the beautiful interior, but when our noses and tongues received the first dishes, it was just over the top. We went for the platter of appetizers and salads, followed by the vegetable tajine - all fantastic and very generously portioned. The Arab bread was fresh, warm and excellent, and they also comped us some extra tapas and desserts, which were incredibly rich without being overly sweet - again, excellence in every way. The two owners (or managers?) each checked up on us as well (just once each, in very sensitive and appropriate ways) and parted with us warmly when we left. Such humility with such excellence - the exact opposite of the other highest rated Moroccan restaurant in town. 110%...
Read moreWe had eaten a lot of Spanish food and wanted a good Moroccan/Arab-influence cuisine so we popped into one of those little Arab kiosks to ask the shopkeeper for a recommendation (using hand gestures and google translate) and he immediately sent us here for what turned out to be the best meal of the trip. The whole experience, from the ambiance, learning how to say thank you in Arabic (shukran), the dramatic tea pouring, the tagine-reveal and the amazing skewers had us smiling ear to ear. And don't get me started on the raspberry almond cake - I don't usually bother with any dessert that doesn't involve chocolate but this one had angels singing. Two of the servers even scoured the internet trying to see if they could find a recipe for me but no luck - I'll keep searching, or maybe will just have to return to this little spot of culinary heaven. Give the paella a break, and don't miss this experience when you are in Granada. (they don't serve alcohol, so treat yourself to one of their special non-alc drinks as well as their specially blended teas, and just give your liver a break...
