El Charly — Restaurant in La Oliva

I picked this place on my wife’s research on Google Maps and this was am absolutely amazing surprise. Two people - Mr. Charly and his assistant - manage to create the perfect experience for dining out. We were presented the menu and what was not available anymore and an extra menu with a few courses that Charly prepares if you want. I had chicken tikka which is not on the menu. My wife had pork. Was very looking forward to eating here due to other reviews. Super disappointed, I asked for steak and chips and I saw in other reviews they received beef, I received pork, it was not steak it was cut up pork and it was cold, not great chips soaked in oil and my ‘salad’ was coleslaw with a tomato on top, not salad at all. My partner ordered pork and cheese panini, was flavourless, in this case you get what you pay for…but we order the queso Frito el Charly which is pricy, oh my god it was cold in the centre and we had to send it back, they just reheated it and even gave us back the half eaten one. Visited 3 times on my recent trip. The Tapas deal for 2 is a bargain at €35 for 8 tapas and a bottle of wine. Other meals were delicious and the soup on both occasions was amazing. It is really well priced if you are on a budget. It does have cafe vibes and if the owners team is playing football expect breaks in service as he enjoys them. I loved it here and would recommend.
