ABSENT COCKTAIL ROOM & GARDEN — Restaurant in Madrid

Popped in last night for a couple of drinks but immediately felt ill at ease with the waiter's attitude. We ordered two martinis which took an age to arrive but the waitress that served them was very engaging and we chatted about our trip to Madrid/where we were from and she made us feel welcome. Halfway through drinking them we signalled the male waiter over to order two more cocktails to save waiting again and he clearly refused us but our Spanish is bad (we told him the same in Spanish) so we were unclear why we weren't getting served. This was only our second drink of the night so we weren't inebriated or anywhere close to it. The waiter didn't offer to get the waitress over to explain, instead he just huffed and puffed as we all tried but failed to understand each other. We left cash on the table, including a tip, then were shouted at as we left as he thought we hadn't paid the bill. Awful man. There are plenty of welcoming bars in Madrid....

One of my favourite places to visit when I'm in Madrid. I was drawn to it one night by the beautiful garden. The cocktails are really good, and although at first glance just a tad bit pricy, the price is absolutely justified by what you get - the fluid to ice ratio is perfect and the drinks very well thought out. The card is mostly original and somewhat less common cocktails, but as far as I know, you can also order whichever drink you want. My favourites are Bison in the Rye, Necromancer and El Clandestino. The garden is very cozy and full of plants, inside it is also very well decorated and the ambience is perfect. You should know that the place serves only cocktails after 18h, before then you can also get beer or wine. Warm recommendation for anyone looking for a 'hidden gem'...

Pésimo servicio! Hay un mesero que solo por usar un saco se siente superior a los demas y se porta super grosero. Cuando llegamos el lugar estaba vacío y aun así lo primero que nos dijo (de forma déspota) es que si nuestros amigos no llegaban en 15 minutos nos tenían que cambiar a una mesa mas chica, como si hubiera una fila esperando para entrar (no había nadie ni adentro ni afuera jaja). Después nos hostigo para pedir nuestros tragos, le pedimos un minuto para ver la carta y se molesto, a los dos minutos regreso y le pedimos un vino y una cerveza solo para empezar (ya que no hubo oportunidad de leer con calma el menu) en respuesta el comenzó a tratarnos como tontos por no saber que después de las 6 no se vende ni cerveza ni vino y ahi es donde ya se puso déspota a decirnos con tono de que si no nos alcanza para algo mas que mejor nos vayamos, que mejor le marcáramos a nuestros amigos por que ese lugar no es lo que nosotros buscamos (racista en mi opinión) El gerente se porta como su su bar de tragos a 10 euros fuera lo mas exclusivo de Madrid cuando el lugar está completamente vacío y se ve sucio. Desgraciadamente pasamos un PESIMO momento.

En respuesta a la respuesta del camarero: Bueno pues por lo que he leído en todas tus respuestas siempre intentas parecer inteligente y usas tu sarcasmo para tratar de humillar a tus clientes.

Pero no pasa, hay cosas que no se pueden cambiar, como por ejemplo, tu pésimo servicio. Y al contrario, en esta ocasión yo te deseo suerte a ti por que mi problema con un servicio así se arregla yendo a otro lugar, el tuyo, desafortunadamente, no...
