Rude barrista and noisy environment (they were THROWING the plates on the marble bar). When taking the order we had to follow the waiter around since he was preparing coffee for others at the same time, and advised to hurry up. Unfortunately they didn't have the first thing we ordered, but they "had everything else on the menu". The second thing we ordered they didn't have either.
Finally got an egg sandwich, which had three pieces of the shell left on it. The bathroom (men) didn't have any soap dispenser. The only good thing was that it was open early in the morning, the food tasted OK (I mean it was a toast, hard to fail to be honest), and the prices were fine for being central Madrid.
Would never go back, and can't recommend the place to anyone. And yes we speak Spanish, all customers were treated equally bad no matter if they were locals...
Read moreWe went here on the recommendation of friend who must have gone on a very good day. The bartenders clearly were unable to smile or in any way make small talk with the customers. And yes we do speak Spanish. Yes there were no tourists it was reasonably busy. But the waiters did not even appear to make much effort, even with the Spanish customers. We were going to stay for food but decided not to bother which is a shame. You wonder why some places like this even bother staying open. The arroz tapa was good. Wine basic. Read moreWe walked by around 7:30 AM and saw lots of locals enjoying their breakfast inside, so we decided to skip our original plan of visiting Chocolate San Gines and came in here instead — and we’re so glad we did! We ordered churro and porra with hot chocolate for dipping, coffee with milk, and the Spanish tortilla (a traditional egg omelette with onions and potatoes, served with a bread roll). The hot chocolate was thick, not too sweet, and similar in texture to chocolate pudding — perfect for dipping. Everything was absolutely delicious....
