Read moreThe place looks trendy and promising, which is why I attempted to order food there not once, but twice. The first time (Monday morning), I was looking to order brunch, whilst getting some work done on my laptop, yet before I had a chance to place my order, a waiter rushed over to inform me laptops were not allowed. Given this is the first time I've heard such a rule at any cafe, I was curious and asked what the reason was. I was given the snide response "because they are". Given I had to get some work done, I left and decided to give the place another chance later on, given the reviews (4.7/5 at the time I went). I decided to go for late lunch at around 3.20 PM with a friend. The place was half empty at this point, so we decided to sit down at one of the larger tables, upon which a waiter rushed towards us, asking how many people were going to be seated. Realising that it was only going to be the 2 of us, he pointed us towards other smaller tables, not in what can be objectively described as a courteous manner. 5 min later, the waiter approached our table, ready to take our order. He then proceeded to inform us that the kitchen was closed, vaguely stating that the kitchen was under maintenance. Meanwhile, people around us were finishing their dishes, so we can only presume they decided to close the kitchen a few minutes early (food served until 3.30 PM according to their menu) and tried to get by with an excuse. Having experience in hospitality, I can accept not wanting to take orders a few minutes before the end of scheduled service, but surely that's something one should mention when receiving new guests, instead of letting them sit down and wasting their time? Bottom line: The place looks cool and trendy, however it's let down by the staff's sheer lack of training and professionalism. Read moreBefore I get into how amazing the food was, there are other things that need to be addressed first. Let’s start with the location. It is in a very great spot near the city centre of madrid. So if you are close by, this place should definitely be on your list. The establishment is very well designed, it accommodates for seating inside as well as outside. This spot was very comforting and very enjoyable for some brunch with my friends. It is important to point out how amazing the service was. Me personally, when I enter any establishment, that provides service, I expect to be greeted respectfully and asked how my day is, and be properly treated, which is exactly what me and my friends experienced when we went. Apparently this is hard for most places these days. The staff were genuinely so nice and you can tell they care about their work and about providing us with an amazing dining experience. How can I describe what it’s like to take a bite of god’s master chef’s food. I am not kidding, I fell in love with this place. I savored every single bite of my food. What I got was the chimi beef and I kid you not, it was the best brunch I have had in my entire life. Now I was skeptical, was it being this good just a fluke? I had to try it again. So the next day I got the same thing and it hit so much more. I couldn’t believe it. I found the best brunch spot in the entire world, I’ve traveled to so many places and had brunch everywhere, nothing hit the way this place does. I almost forgot to mention the San Sebastián cheesecake I had for dessert after my meal. OMG, It was by far the best cheesecake I have ever tried, it was so creamy and soft, the texture was amazing.
