Goiko — Restaurant in Madrid

I had high expectations regarding this place.

I ordered the "Nachos Daniela" and what they presented to me had nothing to do with the dish I'm used to savouring. The quality of the beef was very poor and the melted cheese was cold, amongst other things.

I then complained to Jennifer, our waiter (see photograph) and she procedded to consult with the manager who agreed not to charge for the Nachos Daniela dish.

Unexpectedly, Miss Jennifer pointed out, clear and loud, in front of all of the guests, that Goiko was not a "Venezuelan restaurant but a Spanish one" and that "Goiko in its more than 70 restaurants in 35 cities in Spain and two restaurants in France has always prepared nachos that way".

The problem was not the Nachos platter but the unfortunate commentary on my nationality that I personally interpreted as an offense.

I can really say that this particular premise of Goiko on General Peron, 16 in Madrid, did offer "(...) style and its staff" did certainly "bring a different character and atmosphere in every experience", mine being one of xenophobic disdain and bad taste.

One of the guests at our table, a Mexican national, totally agreed with my complaint on the dish and pointed out to Jennifer, how rude and offensive her words had been.

I just want you to know how I felt today, as a customer, to help you achieve your motto in the best way possible.

What can I tell you about this place that you probably don’t already know? (If you live in Madrid, at least).Well, for starters, it’s a rapidly growing hamburger restaurant chain that has managed to find an audience in this “burger-boom” that has been happening in Madrid for the last few years. How have they managed to garner that audience? With pleasing aesthetics, a friendly staff and fantastic freakin’ burgers of course. Yes, their burgers are great (I’ve tried most of their options, and my favorite might the Kevin Bacon one), their fries are super tasty and their selection of entrées is amazing (Do try the Tequeños). They have a decent enough selection of Spanish artisanal beers and a few other drinks that might aid you throughout the meal, such as their delicious, minty fresh lemonade. Desserts are amazing, but if I’m honest, I’ve only been able to try them once or twice. Their burgers do a pretty decent job at filling me up and leaving me more than satisfied. If you’re planning on going, I strongly suggest you make a reservation. Especially if you’re planning on doing so over the weekend. They’re super popular and are usually packed to the ceiling. I ordered a medium rare ( in Spanish Al punto) burger, they server me a completely burned burger… after confronting waiter with the situation, she replaced the burger and this time they served me a burger with wrong ingredient’s… then last attempt… 15 minutes later they served me the 3d burger that was literally cold and super rare….
