Grosso Napoletano — Restaurant in Madrid

Whenever we come to Madrid (which is very often) we never miss coming here for the pizza bc even though we live in NYC I’d say it’s better than the ones we have at home. Yet- it’s incredibly disappointing that the staff is just not helpful, specially when we’re so eager to make a reservation the day prior.

While we understand reservations are made online, we’d really appreciate if the host didn’t treat us like idiots and actually tried to help rather than just saying “no, it’s only online, and we’ve never made reservations on the spot”. Which is not true, because a week prior a nice gentleman helped and offered to make the reservation on the spot as I told him nothing was working online.

We really love Grosso and tell our local and foreign friends (which are many) to come have pizza here, but you really need to watch out for your staff. If I’m telling you I’m having issues making an online reservation, don’t just dismiss me and mock me, find a way to help and see what you can do on your end and not lose our business and many future ones.

The pizza is amazing!!! However the Staff here is extremely poor. There was one waiter named kevin, he was making unreasonable decisions, he was unfriendly and did not do his job. The moment we entered the restaurant was empty. He told us where to sit and we kindly asked to sit outside, even though 2 people sat outside he declined our request in a rude tone. After asking to be placed at a lower table, he again declined, after requesting a lower table AGAIN he finally agreed. The music is starting and stopping non stop, the door opens and closes constantly. We were only two people however the waiter was missing the whole time. He did not ask if we wanted more to drink even though he saw it was empty, he made us pack our leftover pizza up ourselves. He did not care about the customers much. The restaurant is good but please avoid ordering from them for delivery like Uber eats. This is the third time an item on our pizzas was missing! This is so disappointing. This time the pesto was missing and we especially ordered this pizza because of the pesto. You can see in the pictures and the receipt that the pizzas are the same but the one on the left had the pesto missing. Last time the burrata was missing and the time before that, the tomatoes. We are always ordering the same pizza either via delivery or in the restaurant so we know what is supposed to be on it. If you want a complete pizza, rather go into the restaurant but avoid ordering via delivery from this specific location.
