Gula Gula Madrid — Restaurant in Madrid

Me with my friends visited Madrid from Poland and went to Gula Gula to celebrate my birthday. Attending the professional drag show was one of my dreams and I was delighted to be surprised by my friends who made an effort and got us the reservation.

Most of the night everything was fantastic! I loved Jabicia (sorry if I misspelled the name!). She memorized everyone’s names, poked people a lot and made sure everyone was having fun! Thank you so much, you are an amazing person!

Big thanks to all the staff who we met, especially kind waiters who also made us feel very comfortable and happy.

The night was going great, even though I didn’t understand so much. Thus, my friend was translating the dialogues from Spanish to Polish. Tavi Gallart, one of the performer, however, did not like that and started making jokes of a friend, who was so kind and tried to translate things. I get that the jokes in this kind of performance might get far, however, Tavi Gallart went way too far. Her monologue aimed at my friend was out of the line and racist. Even when Tavi saw my friend was upset she did not back off, quite the opposite - made more fun of her. And my friends only fault was that she wanted to be nice and make us feel comfortable and understand what was going on on stage. Tavi somehow got offended by that and went after my friend. We left the show and went somewhere else.

I am very sorry for the bad review. Once again, we loved everyone but Tavi. She left us with such a bad impression resulting in only two stars. Big thanks to all of the other performers and waiters. Hope to meet...

HACE MAS DE 20 AÑOS QUE ESTUVE EN GULA GULA MADRID POR PRIMERA VEZ. HOY SIGUE SIENDO IGUAL DE RECOMENDABLE. POSITIVO: Ubicación: Situado en zona “canalla” por excelencia. Calle Preciados a pocos metros de la Plaza Santo Domingo. Centro de Madrid. Trafico normalmente denso. Buena conexión por transporte público.

Estacionamiento: Imposible en la misma calle ya que es una zona de paso restringido a la circulación. Únicamente es posible en estacionamientos de pago y en algunas calles de las cercanías (bastante complicado).

Establecimiento: Gula Gula se encuentra en el piso inferior del Restaurante Topolino. Espacio amplio y bien distribuido para poder ver el espectáculo, no destaca por su decoración pero sí por sus posibilidades. El Buffet en forma de “L” se encuentra en uno de los laterales. Mesas y sillas recias. Presentación de las mesas correcta sin grandes alardes pero funcional. No pude comprobar si tenían medios de acceso para personas con movilidad reducida, ya que que hay que bajar unas escaleras para acceder al restaurante.

Buffet: Variado, bien cocinado y presentado. A destacar las carnes y pescados, así como las verduras al horno o las ensaladas. Apto para todo tipo de comensales. Calidad/Precio genial, teniendo en cuenta el espectáculo.

Servicio: Atento, agil, servicial, educado y, sobretodo, divertido.

Ambiente: Musica de fondo a un volumen aceptable. Durante la cena puedes escuchar canciones de siempre que animan (y mucho) al personal.

Show: Merece mucho la pena. Muy ameno y divertido. Tiene una duración aproximada de una hora y media que pasan volando. La interacción con el publico es fundamental. No se trata de un show donde ridiculizan al espectador, al contrario, lo hacen participe. No te preocupes por tu localización en la sala, los/las artistas se mueven para que disfrutes de las actuaciones en primera persona.

Opinión personal: Normalmente mis reseñas tienen muchos videos y fotografías. Por respeto a los/las artistas y, sobretodo a su trabajo, te invito a que vayas a ver el show…es simplemente genial. Dicen que una imagen vale más que mil palabras. En este caso, la imagen tendrás que ir a verla tú mismo. Más de 20 años después de mi primera visita, he vuelto a disfrutar de vuestro show…

From welcoming to accommodating and show, what an experience. The staff are superb, with very genuine and personalised attention. They went far and beyond in attention towards my partner and a friend of mine, both with special needs on the night of the show; I can not be more grateful. It's is true that it may not be a show for foreigners unless you speak castellano, you may not get a sense of humour, the 121 interactiona and perhaps some spanish slang, which are very unique to the community. Well done guys, your effort and good intentions are not passing unseen. What you are doing is remarcable, trying to keep up a show like Gula Gula, with so much history....
