La Máquina Jorge Juan — Restaurant in Madrid

The restaurant has excellent seafood. The appetizers included the chanquetes, tiny bait fish,lightly battered and fried to a crisp. They are mixed with a fried egg making this a delicious choice. The shellfish salpicon was served cold, very fresh and a very tasty appetizer. For the main course we had the besugo, a white meat fish which was extremely fresh, in a olive oil-garlic sauce. The culinary experience was ruined by the maitre, who despite all efforts, would not explain the menu or give us suggestions. He was arrogant, impatient and when he saw we were indecisive he took over 40 minutes to return to the table and finally take our order. Ironically, his assistants were very sweet. We speak spanish so there was no language barrier. For a fine restaurant with such high prices the service was unacceptable. With such great restaurants in Madrid, I would not risk such...

Poor. We had a table booked and when we arrived the front of house staff barely acknowledged us. Another guest spoke to me and said to not bother here as it was poor, lacked any ambience and staff were tardy. We waited to see if the front of house staff invited us in to check our name etc, and the 3 staff started to argue. No eye contact, acknowledgement of waiting customers, nothing.

They clearly could not work the booking system. There was a few people behind us in the queue waiting to be acknowledged too. Again, nothing.looking at customers sat at tables was mixed as very few seemed to have had service. At which point we thought no, and went to find another restaurant.

I accept things can go wrong with computer systems etc, but the total lack of customer interaction was bizarre. And below poor to...

I rarely leave bad reviews, but the food here was genuinely disappointing. We ordered the seabass and the steak, and both were underwhelming to say the least.

The seabass was bland, overcooked, and had a strange aftertaste — definitely not fresh. It felt like it had been sitting around too long before reaching our table. For the price, I expected a lot more flavor and quality.

The steak was even worse. It was tough, dry, and poorly seasoned. I asked for medium rare and got something closer to well done. It honestly felt like it had been rushed or just poorly handled in the kitchen.

Presentation was decent , but unfortunately, that’s the only positive thing I can say. Would not recommend...
