ECLECTIC FUSION OF SPANISH AND ASIAN CUISINES. Behind Canalla Bistro is Spanish chef Ricard Camarena, whose eponymous restaurant in Valencia has earned him two Michelin stars. The menu combines traditional Spanish dishes (e.g. croquetas, calamar, ensadilla rusa) with Chinese, Japanese, Thai and other Asian elements (e.g. Peking duck, Karaage chicken, Pad Thai). In distinction to other fine dining restaurants, Canalla Bistro offers a somewhat less formal, more "urban" experience. This nonchalant vibe is enhanced by its location on the first floor of Platea Madrid, a gourmet food hall with several other eateries, swathes of people, a DJ and club-like noise levels. It's more a place to go out than to have a peaceful dinner. In my opinion, it's a unique atmosphere with great culinary value. Performance: personally I found the DJ music and the ambience underwhelming, it’s not as good as what people make it to be. Food: I think this would be good for people who like drink a few glasses of wine and try some Asian fusion food. Personally food is just “not my cup of tea”. It’s a very Asian menu, it’s not bad but just the usual Asian favour, does not justify the price in my opinion. I just don’t normally go for over-prices western Asian food.
