Last Wednesday I ate with a friend at your restaurant. The bill was for little more than €130, and I asked to be charged €150 by credit card. The waitress tipped in the sum on the machine, I tapped my credit card and PIN and it was paid. I normally do not look too carefully before taping my pin. Assuming that the amount is correct. However, this time, as I tapped OK I noticed that I had just paid €450 instead of €250. I told the waitress, she apologized profusely, undid the wrong payment and I then paid the correct €150.

This should simply not happen. This may have been a typo by the waitress but I cannot help thinking that it probably was not.

The next morning I wanted to report the incident to the restaurant and filled in their online form, but was unable to get it sent, repeatedly getting a message to “try later “. After a few days with this, I sent them an email. Still no answer at all.

This is simply not good enough.

¡La peor comida y experiencia en un restaurante que hemos  tenido en años! La ensaladilla aún era pasable, pero los callos, era un picadillo irreconocible, sin rastro de chorizo, ni morcilla y nada gelatinoso, sino aguado y sin gracia. A las gambas "al ajillo", les faltaba ajo y el único trozo de guindilla era tan dura, que no se podía ni masticar, como si fuera de plástico. Los calamares fritos  estaban aceptables, pero el lenguado "meunière", ¡no se parecía en NADA a la receta tradicional, una receta que tiene fama mundial y que forma parte del legado culinario de la humanidad!  Este plato en La Maquina "Original" consistía en un lenguado cubierto de una masa poco fina, sumergido en un baño de una especie de caldo de color marrón muy poco vistoso y menos apetecible, que tuve que trasvasar para poder llegar al pescado. Si el cocinero no conoce la receta correcta, que no utilice el nombre de un plato tan sobradamente conocido; que lo quite de la carta o que lo llame de otra forma, así no sería engañoso y ofensivo al comensal que sí sabe mejor.

El servicio estaba en la misma línea que la comida: los camareros tenían caras de pocos amigos - que se notaba ¡incluso a través de las mascarillas! - y parecían estresados y para pocas bromas. Un maitre mismo se dio cuenta de que se había dirigido a mi de forma cortante y brusco y pedía perdón, pero el daño ya estaba hecho y nuestro almuerzo fuera de casa, estropeado.

Lo más imperdonable era el hecho que nuestra mesa (para 2) NO GUARDABA LA DISTANCIA SOCIAL REGLAMENTARIA de la mesa de al lado, donde hubo 4 personas, y tuvimos que pedir otra mesa por nuestra propia protección y salud. De hecho, mientras que esperábamos nuestra mesa, me asustaba ver a tanta gente en un espacio tan reducido, y me sentía aliviada cuando, después de una espera demasiado larga para los tiempos que corren, nos condujeron a otro salón. Pero poco duró mi alegría, porque a pesar de haber especificado claramente nuestras preferencias, tanto en la reserva que hice por internet, como DOS veces por teléfono, nos pusieron en una mesa exactamente contraria a lo que habíamos pedido.

En cuanto al interior, el sitio esta pidiendo una reforma a gritos. Pero digamos que no están los tiempos para algo así. Pues bien, pero entonces, Sres., actualicen la foto que tienen colgada en el internet, porque la que figura actualmente, no guarda NINGÚN PARECIDO con el restaurante tal y como está ahora mismo. ¡Otro engaño!

Si no fuera por la coyuntura actual, nos hubiéramos marchado de allí nada más llegar, pero en las circunstancias, evidentemente  no era factible.

Después, nos fuimos corriendo de La Maquina con sensaciones nada agradables, decepcionados de un restaurante, que pretende dar la impresión que está a la par con los mejores de Madrid. ¡Nada más lejos de la verdad! Más bien es un sitio cutre, que parece no importarle en absoluto ni el disfrute, ni el bienestar de sus clientes, ni la calidad de comida que les sirve. Definitivamente, ¡allí no volveremos y no lo...
