I recently visited La negra Tomasa with my family, having traveled quite a distance for a nice evening out. Unfortunately, our experience was marred by the staff's unwelcoming attitude (the one at the entry) which bordered on discriminatory behaviour.
After ordering two mojitos, a whisky, and two beers, we were repeatedly asked if we were going to order food. Despite only having had one drink each, we felt pressured, so we decided to order. Shortly after, we were handed the bill and basically asked to leave.
The entire interaction felt uncomfortable and unnecessary. We had planned to spend more time enjoying ourselves, but the constant pressure and lack of hospitality from the staff made us feel like we weren't welcome. This kind of treatment, especially when it appears targeted, is unacceptable, and we hope the management takes this seriously to ensure all customers are treated with respect.
This keeps the tone respectful but highlights the key points of what went wrong. It's always good to stay factual and share how the situation made you feel without letting the frustration escalate in the wording.
It’s really sad the behaviour of this person as I was feeling really great at this bar but this made me and family very uncomfortable. Not recommended at all if you are travelling...
Read moreWe made a reservation two weeks before our stay in Madrid because some friend from Madrid recommended us this place as we are a couple of salsa cubana dancers. We were very happy to come, arrived right on time. We were given our table which was stick to the wc door. We asked for another table which wasn't possible. Then we waited 15 minutes for a waitress to come give us the menu or at least a welcome message. Nothing. People of the table next to us arrived after and got directly the menus... as we were waiting, people coming in and out of the bathroom were continuously pushing the swing door against my wifes shoulder... and we were feeling the cold coming from outside as we were sitting against a very thin window. We realised as bad the situation was and decided to leave. We are so disappointed so we don't...
Read moreNot a tourist trap as some of the negative reviews might say. It is prime location, so lots of people around on peak hours. Live music from 21:30, 2 bands on weekdays, 3 bands on weekends. From around 00:00 it turns from a restaurant to a dance club. Yes they have more than just cuban food(Colombian, Venezuelan whatever) and it is a bit on the expensive side(IMO around 25€ per person for food and drinks) portions are good and quite large. The staff was very friendly, love the design. The 2 bands we enjoyed were great... In general, can easily recommend. If you're looking for a reenactment of Cuba in Madrid, it's not that, i believe it's more of a general south American culture house, mainly inspired by Cuban motifs(as far as i can tell; not huge on...
