We visited La Plateria Bar 4 times within our 5-day stay in Madrid
We almost despaired to find a decent restaurant in the touristic area of Madrid. Normally the prices are unreasonably high and the food quaility wish much to be desired. After having bad Lunch experience in the Museum area, we decided to have dinner in the restaurant near our hotel.
On the way to Metro we were enticed by the inviting look of paella and cosy atmosphere of La Palteria. So we decided to give a chance to the place.
Good wine, tasty food and very considerate service. Very reasonable price as for the Museum area.
It was in February and we took a table outside. There was mobile heating to make us warm and comfortable.
Afterwards we returned to La Palateria 3 more times. Also for lunch. Everytime we were treated with welcome littile starter while waitng, and once even by a dessert. Sepecial thanks to the peruvian waiter (sorry, forgot the name) it was high-class service. And we never had to wait for a long time even if the restaurant was full.

Read moreWe were utterly disgusted by how we got treated today. This used to be one of our favorite hangout spots and we took some friends of ours who were visiting. However, two of the female waitresses were being so rude to us to the point that we felt like paying and leaving. To paint a clear picture, one of us got up and the waitress came shouting at her saying we are working here so please be respectful, I mean like seriously it’s like being told off by the headmaster at school. We had done nothing wrong and my friend only got up to go to the toilet, and yet, somehow that angered the waitress and we got told off. The second instance was when one of our chairs was slightly ajar from the table and the other waitress came and literally pushed the chair in such an aggressive and condescending way. I honestly feel frustrated about this situation because we were treated like children when in reality we were having fun in a respectful manner and paying money...

This is the area I walked to after my morning tour as part 2 of my tour was happening here. I was looking for a place to eat at, but the spot I found wasn't opening for another 20 mins. I circled this spot 3 times until I decided to just make myself go inside.
I'm so glad I did. They ended up having great food options. I had enough time to kill and ended up killing 3 plates of food and 2 glasses of wine. By the time I finished it was time to start my second tour at the muse across the street.
The food here was delicious. I loved the spicy sausage, salad and calamari that I ordered. Unlike most folks, I dig the mayo dip that went with the calamari. I kilt that serving.
The staff were nice. I finished with just enough time to sober up outside while enjoying the sun before I had to meet with my guide to go inside the museum.
Came in with zero expectations and left...
