Lateral — Restaurant in Madrid

Dropped by the area near Santiago Bernabeu for lunch & had the worse experience ever during my stay in Madrid! Exceptionally rude service from the hostess when being “greeted” at the reception area, waited for 5-10mins at our table then the same hostess came to take our order. However, when we scan the QR code placed on the table while waiting for her (no one ever told us to scan for the menu, it’s all by our own guess!!!), it’s in Spanish & there is no English or translated menu (we are English speaking). We told her there is no English but she insisted there is (or she doesn’t understand what we were saying?), when we showed her the app, she gave us a loud “sigh” when grabbing the English menu for us. We left at the spot because we can feel that we were not welcomed to dine at this place!!

If Madrid is claiming to be one of the largest financial & business centers in Spain, this restaurant clearly doesn’t fit in this area! The one and only thing that they did well is to clearly demonstrated the “I don’t give a shxt” attitude when running their business!! If you are traveling to Madrid & is not “business-like”, think twice whether you want to visit this...

It’s become increasingly clear that there’s a serious disconnect between how this place should operate and how it actually does when a specific staff member is working.

We’re a small group (4–6 people) who occasionally stop by for a drink after work. More than once, we’ve been told we’re not allowed to sit outside — even when it’s not busy. Strangely, when this one worker isn’t there, everything runs smoothly: we’re welcomed, served properly, and the venue operates like a business that wants to make money.

When she is there, it’s a different story — unwelcoming, uninterested, more focused on her phone than on customers. It’s like she actively doesn’t want us there. That attitude isn’t just bad service — it’s a liability.

Disappointing experience, we were a table of 10 with a reservation, unfortunately when we arrived rather than having the staff welcoming us, they informed us that we were able to stay 1.5h max as the table was reserved after that time and that we should have received an email (however we didn’t and we told her, she didn’t say anything and just left)! The service is not great and the food average - also at one point we asked some additional drinks but the waiter said that we had to leave, so we asked for the bill which was delivered after 20 minutes! We could have enjoyed a drink during the waiting… the area is plenty of places around with more friendly staff and great food - our table of 10 is definitely...
