♿🚭 Matador is a must visit in Madrid for both it's vibe and food quality. The place itself is rather small, decorated in traditional red terracotta tiles, old wooden chairs and tables, with plenty of hams, sausages and wines displayed on the sides. When I was there they were playing loud flamenco music so everyone had to shout to one another, but it felt like I had left the rather commercial look of the outside world, and stepped into something of old times. The waiters were very pleasant, being patient with my questions, and serving very quickly thereafter. If you are here, don't miss out on the Goat Cheese with Sweet Onions and Tomato on Toast, it's a killer, and worth coming here just for it. Portions can be adjusted to most of your needs, from small 3-4 pieces portions costing around 4,5€ to medium and larger portions costing 12€. If in funny go with the smaller ones and taste a few. The light beer (cerveza) I took with my partner was very refreshing and had a good body, but I found the red wine glass to really fully encompass the rich palette of tastes in the...

Matador has become my GoTo place in Madrid. Had to come back to this place on my latest Madrid trip, having frequented this bar in 3 occasions on my previous trip... Got around to chat with the boys ( Esti & Ivan ) this time around. Always appreciate their friendly and attentive service! Definitely listed within Top 5 of my fave bars around the globe! Read moreWe discovered this place on a late night walk close by Plaza Sol, as soon as we walked in the Staff greeted us with a friendly smile and despite the fact that the place was super busy we found two spots right in front of the bar, ordered two “Jarras” (large beers) and they came with “Tapas”
The place was extremely cozy and the music is at the right level of volume so you can still have a conversation with your friends.
Every Jarra we ordered arrived with all sort of Tapas, we got “Jamon Iberico” (Ham) Olives, Cheese And Baguette, etc.
Prices are very affordable, and now every time we visit Madrid this became one of our official stops and even brought friends here, we have never been dissatisfied with their service. On our last visit (October 2023) Ivan our bartender was amazing with excellent customer service
If you are visiting Madrid you must try this place!
