La Rollerie — Restaurant in Madrid

This place is frequented by tourists. Unfortunately, this means that for the average food and bad coffee, the Google review score is inflated. La Rollerie offers the widest non-Madrid breakfast menu north of Lavapies, but we didn't find the love in the food served. Our poached eggs were at our table within five minutes of ordering, which is either super fast and amazing, or a little suspicious. Although the eggs were well cooked, the salmon was slopped on the overly tough bread. The enthusiasm (sarcasm) in the plating of our Royal was similar to the way our plates and cups were left at our too small table by not-so-happy waiters. Interestingly, the establishment is very spacious and empty and it would thus benefit from bigger tables to make guests more comfortable, or to shove more tourists into this little trap. Breakfast menu was decently priced, brunch seemed a little pricey. We prefer to make a decent breakfast ourselves and save the €20 we spent for the 2 priciest breakfast plates. I was very satisfied with the food, however I cannot say this about a waitress. I started to speak english to her since my spanish is not very good and I supposed everyone can speak at least basics and even if not it is fine. But instead of telling me ‘I am sorry, I can’t speak english’ or something like that, she started to laugh, it was so rude and impolite from her. After that she called her colleague and she spoke english good. We ordered and didn’t receive one of our meals, which is fine, it can happened, but then again the rude waitress came, we complained that we did not get one of our food and she basically told us that it is our fault, because they couldn’t hear us. Due to this experience I am not coming back, even though the food was really good and the place looks amazing. I don’t want to be put into a position like I am the problem anymore and felt so disappointed and ashamed at...

This was a very interesting place. The decor and atmosphere is very fresh and inviting, there's natural sunlight coming in which is very inviting. The food was delicious!! The cinnamon roll melted in my mouth and I have to say made my eyes roll back a few times! Every mouthful was divine!! You can't leave here without having the cinnamon roll!! Hands down the best roll I have ever had. The salmon tartare was very fresh and light which was good for me as I had room for the roll :). We were seated upstairs and forgotten about a lot and had to keep going downstairs to call a waiter which was a shame and as you can see from the picture I was given a very very dirty glass. The food here is delicious, I would have given it a 5 stars if the service wasn't lacking but I will definitely come here again...
