Our experience in this bar was one of the most unpleasant ones I've ever had. First we were three and two of us ordered a pint and the third one didn't want to drink, so she just asked for water. The waiter brought us the drinks and almost immediately after he brought the bill and asked to pay it right now, as if he wanted to get rid of us quickly.
Two Muslim friends of ours joined us and when they asked for non-alcoholic drinks, the selection was very poor. They would've wanted a tea for example, but the waiter said they don't have it. When they said they wouldn't take anything, kindly, the waiter got very arrogant and insisted they would need to order something to accompany us. "There can't be a big group of people when only two of you are drinking" (the bar was almost empty on a Monday late evening).
He went as far as to make fun of the Muslim guys' religion - "This is not a mosque - you don't come here to worship, this is a place to drink". Even if they ignored these comments and I am not a Muslim myself, that's not cool.
I got upset by the service, so I told the young waiter that if he'd leave us for 5 minutes, we'd finish our beers and leave. I could sense strong sarcasm in his affirmative response and I think he was actually taking time. We left in time and will never return to this bar, where they'll push the whole group out, just because a few don't drink and don't find suitable option on their poor menu.
I understand that they might have such rules (which isn't a good thing), but the guy handled the...

They have Guinness and Heineken on draught, but no Kilkenny, Murphy's, or Newcastle Ale. I didn't see any Ciders on draught either, and what they have in terms of cider is Magners, which isn't bad per se, but too sweet for my taste. Guinness was at 5.50€ (which is 1.30€ above what I'm used to and what I consider worth the money) and wasn't served in Guinness glasses. I took a peek in on St. Patrick's day and turned on my heel when I saw the price at 6.50€.
The burgers aren't bad, but you can get way better in the same price range at other places (e.g. Tony R.) and well, one can't talk of real "Pub Food" here at any rate. I've been to the Republic and to Northern Ireland many a time, and it's absolutely no comparison.
There wasn't much of a variety of good Whiskeys either, and I didn't see any appropriate tumblers now that I think about it.
Any Irish Pub where I can't get Guiness on Strongbow (Black Velvet) won't get five stars from me, but then again, this is a 2.5 at best at any rate. Though due to the fact that there is no 2.5, a 2 is what...
Read moreVery disappointed yesterday by this bar.I went there to watch the motorcycle Grand Prix from Silverstone..saw Moto 3 and Moto GP and just started watching Moto 2 when suddenly without warning the channel was changed over to the cricket test match...Protested to the guy who had been serving me and was told it was not his decision to change it but his jefe's who was not there but was in his other place called La Camela and if I wanted to talk to him then he was there. So very annoyed I thought I would complain...He was not there and I got a tirade of abuse from his Spanish waiters. So the morale of this sorry tale is that the customer is not important even though I had been buying cervezas there, paying my dosh and getting poor service.I have been coming here for some 15 odd years since I first came to live in Madrid,I don't think I will be going back there in the future...
