One of the worst food I have in a 5 star hotel. I was here for a short rest in the Palm Court ordered coffe and tea and a dim sum selection. My wife's coffee is ok, not exceptional, my tea is TWG good quality as usual. The worst is the dim sum selection. It was like reheated by a microwave oven medium heat for one minutes. The 2 dumplings with totally dried out edges. The shaomai (with salmon roes on top) were also with dry wrapping. ( Please refer to the picture). After I paid I told the waitress why I didn't finish the dim sum dish because of the bad quality and she immediately report it, which was good. The other lady possibly the supervisor offer her apology and would like to compensate us with something but since our original intention was to have a rest before going to the museum of prado, so we did not take any offers. But the food did not really live up to my expectations. For instance, the waiter asked how I wanted my meat, and we agreed that rare/medium rare was a good choice. But the beef was the very definition of well done. I also had the expensive prawn carpaccio as a starter, but I could only finish less then half of the enormous portion. They could have told me that is was ment for 2-3 people.
One thing about the service was that there were too many people involved. Perhaps that's why our requests were missed? We never understood who was our "main" waiter.
And the sommelier started recommending wines without knowing what we had ordered to eat.
So, overall, a nice visit but the food was very...
