One of the worst food I have in a 5 star hotel. I was here for a short rest in the Palm Court ordered coffe and tea and a dim sum selection. My wife's coffee is ok, not exceptional, my tea is TWG good quality as usual. The worst is the dim sum selection. It was like reheated by a microwave oven medium heat for one minutes. The 2 dumplings with totally dried out edges. The shaomai (with salmon roes on top) were also with dry wrapping. ( Please refer to the picture). After I paid I told the waitress why I didn't finish the dim sum dish because of the bad quality and she immediately report it, which was good. The other lady possibly the supervisor offer her apology and would like to compensate us with something but since our original intention was to have a rest before going to the museum of prado, so we did not take any offers. Instead I emphasized that I would just want to provide comments on the bad food the hotel is serving. The biscuits that came with the drink were...

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, Ritz, Madrid Timeless delight at Palm Court

A proper Afternoon Tea experience is part of every stay at Mandarin Oriental Madrid. Here you can enjoy sweets without regret. Exquisite teas of TWG Tea Company, a mix of deserts, hearty sandwiches, freshly baked scones with clotted cream offer the perfect opportunity to socialize with friends and loved ones.

A very special Afternoon Tea experience awaits you at the Mandarin Oriental Ritz in the heart of Madrid. The atmosphere with the Christmas tree in the middle of the Court of this luxury hotel, beautifully decorated, is absolutely unique.

In celebration of Cesar Ritz introducing Afternoon Tea to Madrid, the Palm Court serves it every afternoon, between 4pm and 6:30pm - revisited by Quique Dacosta.

The price is EUR 48 p.p. and including a glass of Champage Moët & Chandon Brut...

I had high expectations on Palm Court. Unfortunately they were not met.

The place itself is exceptional! Beautiful restaurant. And the service was very nice.

But the food did not really live up to my expectations. For instance, the waiter asked how I wanted my meat, and we agreed that rare/medium rare was a good choice. But the beef was the very definition of well done. I also had the expensive prawn carpaccio as a starter, but I could only finish less then half of the enormous portion. They could have told me that is was ment for 2-3 people.

One thing about the service was that there were too many people involved. Perhaps that's why our requests were missed? We never understood who was our "main" waiter.

And the sommelier started recommending wines without knowing what we had ordered to eat.

So, overall, a nice visit but the food was very...
