Careful with these guys , it's a total scam and very poor service and food. We asked for wine, they gave us the wrong type of wine, then we asked for patatas bravas, they were the most awful patatas bravas we've ever had in Spain, not just Madrid (I live here). We were also brought bread that we didn't ask for but we simply thought it was coming with the patatas. After eating we were charged for the bread, we asked for explanations and all they could say was " you didn't ask for it, but as you ate it, we are going to charge you". Then they proceeded with giving us a euro as a symbolic refund.(we had been charged 3). Ridiculous experiences, customer service, poor hygiene and quality of anything. Tourist trap, nothing more. Appalling. And of course, we gave the euro back. It looks like they need charity.
For all the tourists: ask for hoja de reclamacion, the community of Madrid must know about it, and that's the only way, so these guys learn how to run a restaurant.

We got handed a menu in English- the waiters do not speak English but easy enough to order if you know a few Spanish words. They do bring a bread basket (which is charged for!!) so you can politely refuse it and they take it away without any issue. The two El Aquila draft beers were wonderfully cool and the coffee was great too- you need to stop them pouring too much milk if that is your preference. For 4 of us we ordered a basic menu of ham croquettes ( nice and crisp), batatas bravas (bravas sauce varies from place to place- so this was different but nice), calamari and the Spanish omelette ( much bigger than we thought and creamy). The food was standard and nothing to complain about. The omelette while tasty was crying out for some pepper or spice but that was our preference. Service was quick and efficient. Decent enough place but pretty...
Read moreI was really disappointed with this bar in Madrid, near the Atocha station. I ordered a simple espresso and an iced coffee with milk, and the bill came to €6. That’s an outrageous price for two very basic drinks, especially given that the place isn’t particularly special in terms of atmosphere or service.
I understand prices can be higher in tourist areas, but this just felt like a rip-off. I won’t be coming back, and I wouldn’t recommend it — there are plenty of other spots in Madrid where you can enjoy the same coffee at...
