We were a party of four sitting at a table inside, next to the bar. We ordered food normally, service was not bad but average (we ordered a bottle white wine , they placed the wine glasses on the table and forgot to serve the bottle. I had to remind them we were expected a bottle of wine, although they had already served all of the appetizers (they should have noticed there was a bottle missing on the table!). I later ordered two glasses of red wine and always had to remind them twice that I did until I finally got them), although I admit the waiter spoke perfect English and made the effort.., and was friendly. Food was honestly very good. The Manchego coming with the tomate con pan was delicious, so was the risotto, and the lomo, and the croquetas with jamon iberico as well. BUT, next to us a lady was holding a totally unbehaved and untrained dog (small dog like a whippet) who kept barking at our table for food litterally the whole dinner party. Anyone would understand how disturbing it is, especially because she didn't care at all about this and thought this was funny (the dog was heavily barking sometimes only 2 feet (66 cm) away from our table. At some point I launched a "por favor" showing my unconfortness, the lady just laughed with her friend next to her. Apparently she was friends with the (supposed to be) manager who did absolutely NOTHING. No excuse or apology. The staff didn't react either. It totally ruined our experience there. I will never go back in this restaurant and don't recommend at all, despite the quality of the food provided there, the service and management...
Read moreI was just on my way home from a long day and needed a place to rest and recuperate. I came across Rollo Ocho. It's in a "not-so-busy" street in La Latina, which was perfect, and it's atmosphere seems so charming. After a few years of living here, it's really refreshing to find places that are hidden gems and the location of this place is just right. Bea and Floren (not sure if that's the correct spelling for their names) were really great. I want to give a big "thank you" to Floren for being so patient and kind with my dietary needs, recommending a great red wine, and for the shot. I know that tipping isn't so popular in Spain but I couldn't allow myself to leave without tipping above 20% because his kindness, attentiveness, flexibility and overall service were simply outstanding and I enjoyed the restaurant so much that I stayed a bit longer than I initially meant to. The food and wine are also quite good, and the bread is served warm--just fresh out of the oven. Save this place on your list of date...
Read moreAmazing experience - food and customer service , can’t decide which is better. The owner came by to check on us and crack some jokes and smiles every few minutes and we ended up being there for 5 hours, I have never felt more welcome. He is extremely attentive as well as nice. He told us we ordered too much which being from the US is shocking because they just want your money right? They came by to check on us often between each appetizer to timely prepare cooking the next meal instead of all at once. We got new hot plates every 30 minutes to warm our steaks, shots on the house with some really good sour gummies, and a very good memory that highlighted my time in madrid. Thank you thank you thank you!!! Oh and did I forget to mention the food was amazing! We had the steak, burrata, and ceviche. The portions are large but not short of quality. P.S I got sick man sorry for the false promise , I will come visit you in...
