Choose Restaurante Vegano — Restaurant in Madrid

We visited for Christmas eve, choosing the two different menúes (one each), valued 60eur + drinks. I will focus on the food, since service was very uneven depending on the waiter who reached out to our table. For 60 euros you expect something at least very good, but food in Choose was mediocre at its best. Starters were 3 cream cheese balls with pistachio. Now when I say mediocre I say things like having the same fruit jam both inside the balls and as sauce, when something as simple as a soy based sauce or even balsamic could be so good to balance things out of the sweetness. (Same jam was used again for another dish). Then the "risotto" and with that I will rest my case. It's not uncommon that familiar restaurants or bars offer some rice dish and call it risotto, but you don't expect that from a place trying to be fancy. This dish was normal long grain rice (not carnaroli nor arborio), apparently just boiled and with a sauce trying to replace the creaminess of the carnaroli starch. Then a ravioli dish, with pumpkin filling was not very tasty, mostly because of a creamy sauce not quite emulsified, probably due to the lack of dairy ingredients, so I can understand that. Finally the cheesecake was also nothing like a cheesecake, not only for not having cheese, which again I get, but for a huge "cheese" foam, more similar to a merengue. My review is intended to be constructive. It's ok to aim high and try to create great things, but knowledge is really needed so you don't end up being pretentious...

Outstanding upscale Italian cuisine. I was really impressed by my experience at this restaurant! After spending one month traveling in Spain, this is still my favorite restaurant by far.

At our first visit, we ordered the arancini as an appetizer; they were HUGE and came in 4 varieties (Bolognese, pesto, smoked ham and truffle) - great for sharing! I thoroughly enjoyed the Crepe de Pollo e Funghi al Tartufo (chicken and mushroom crepe with truffle); it was rich, creamy, and flavorful, and came with an arugula salad which was a perfect refreshing contrast to the decadent crepe. You absolutely cannot miss the pistachio cake for dessert!

At our second visit, we also absolutely adored the Alexander salad with grilled "chicken", truffle paccheri, and truffle pizza. The creaminess and cheesiness of their dishes is unreal - you won't believe it's vegan! Unfortunately they were out of the Biscoff cheesecake that we wanted, but the Ferrero Rocher cake was amazing too.

It is very well-located in the charming Barrio de La Latina, within walking distance of many of Madrid's main sights. The staff are very attentive and welcoming. The ambiance is chic and moody, and all the food is artfully presented and aesthetically pleasing. Great selection of wine.

This restaurant is a bit on the pricier side (it came to 67.50 euros for a three-course meal for two), but it's well worth treating yourself to an amazing meal here! I have already been twice and would...

We had a dinner with my friends, and it was an experience to remember! The atmosphere is absolutely excellent, providing a warm and inviting ambiance that immediately sets the tone for a fantastic meal.
