Taquería Mi Ciudad — Restaurant in Madrid

The Mexican consulate has a sign in this place endorsing it as a true representative of Mexican gastronomy. Need I say more??

I'm from Arizona and have been living in Europe...wow have I missed some good tacos! These ones were amazing! The place is teeny tiny and it can seat maybe 6 people. Everything is prepared right in front of you and the music and decor make you feel like you're back in Mexico.

Every single taco was incredibly fresh and flavourful!! The corn tortillas are homemade and the salsas take it over the top. Mmmm we came here for both lunch and dinner!! I'm just sad that we only found it on the last day:(

My favourite taco was the chicarron because it had that hatch chili flavour that I love!! Second favourite was probably the carnitas. They were all sosososo...

I went with high expectations as it had the looks of extremely small restaurants in Mexico. It also had the iconic system of putting the order on paper on your own.

But when I reached there, I saw that the place was extremely small. We two barely got a corner to stand and eat. However, a small place is okay when food can be great.

Food was served quite fast. I had tacos with nopales and chipotle. The filling of the tacos was really good and tasted amazing. However, the tortillas were mostly frozen ones because they were breaking while eating the tacos.

The quesadilla with huitlacoche was amazing as well. In this case the tortilla did not break and the filling tasted very nice.

I want to preface this with everything I had was very tasty but the staff?? He was rude! I wanted several tacos but as I was ordering he was walking away! I ordered four things when my partner and I wanted about seven. Every time I ordered a drink, I felt like he was bored. It was an odd experience.

In such a tiny establishment, surely the personal touch is important? Not here.

With so many taquerias in the area, tbh, I wouldn't go again. It was that bad that I felt nervous asking him for anything, and I wasn't even sure that what I'd ordered was going to come! Hence the 2 stars.

Also, the margarita Jamaica was lovely, however I'm not a drinker so it should have knocked me off my feet... I barely felt a buzz. 7 euros for a drink that was...
